  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Season limited by injury

Bosa registered 10 tackles (eight solo), three tackles for loss -- including 2.5 sacks -- and a forced fumble in five games during the 2022-23 regular season.

Bosa spent the majority of the season on injured reserve, as he missed 13 straight games after injuring his groin Week 3, an issue he aggravated Week 18. Bosa was still productive in his limited action, especially as a pass rusher. He finished the season with the sixth-most sacks and tied for the fifth-most quarterback hits on the Chargers. While his injury history might be a cause for concern, it's worth noting the 27-year-old has recorded double-digit sacks in every season he's been fully healthy for.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Set to play

Bosa (groin) was activated off injured reserve Saturday.

The Chargers will get a much-needed defensive jolt with the return of the Pro Bowler, who has missed the last 13 contests after tearing his groin. Bosa typically has been one of the team's better run defenders, but it remains to be seen how many snaps he'll see as he works back into proper game conditioning.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Expected to play versus Rams

Chargers coach Brandon Staley said the Chargers plan to activate Bosa (groin) from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams.

Bosa landed on IR with a groin tear after the first two games of the regular season and he was finally designated to return to practice Thursday. The Bolts still need to officially restore the 27-year-old defensive to the active roster before he can suit up again, so this move will come at some point Friday or Saturday. Bosa recorded double-digit sacks in four of his first six seasons, and his return ahead of the playoffs should be a significant boost for the Bolts' pass rush, which currently ranks 20th with 31 sacks this season.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Makes return to practice

The Chargers designated Bosa (groin) for return from injured reserve Thursday.

The transaction clears the way for Bosa to practice for the first time since suffering a groin tear in late September and ultimately requiring surgery. Because he hasn't played since Week 3, Bosa won't be a safe bet to get activated from IR in advance of this Sunday's game against the Rams, even if he fares well in his two practices this week. The Chargers will have 21 days to evaluate Bosa before he would have to be moved to the 53-man active roster, so he could be a candidate to play Week 18 in Denver or during the wild-card round of the playoffs if he's not activated for Week 17.

  • Chargers' Joey Bosa: Nearing return

Bosa (groin) could return to practice starting this week, Bridget Condon of NFL Network reports.

While the Chargers clinched a playoff berth with Monday's 20-3 win over the Colts, they could be getting better news leading into Week 17 as the team's dominant pass rusher has been out since Week 2 due to a groin injury. The Chargers will need to designate Bosa to return from IR before he's able to practice, so fantasy mangers will have some idea when the pass rusher will be nearing his return, but this is the first sign of positive momentum regarding Bosa's status since he initially suffered the injury.
