Chesson joined Washington's practice squad in early September but landed on the injured list with the undisclosed injury in October. The 26-year-old appeared in 12 games apiece with Kansas City and Washington his first two seasons, but he never saw the field in 2019.

Chesson has appeared in 24 games over his two-year career -- 12 for Kansas City and 12 for Washington -- logging three catches for 25 yards. The 25-year-old operated primarily on special teams for Washington last season and will now look to develop as a receiver on their practice squad.

Though an opportunity for offensive snaps is available, it appears likely that Chesson will predominantly play on special teams.

Chesson played all 67 offensive snaps for the Chiefs on Sunday, but it didn't result in many looks or much of anything on the whole. He finishes the regular season having amassed just two catches for 18 yards in total and seems destined for a depth role again in 2018. However, De'Anthony Thomas' (lower leg) and Albert Wilson's contracts expire at the end of the season, potentially leaving some openings at wideout should the Chiefs elect to let them walk.

Chesson will likely see plenty of offensive snaps during Sunday's Week 17 matchup against the Broncos, Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star reports.
Chesson has only played 18 snaps all season on offense, catching just one against Dallas in Week 9. It will likely be just a one-week spike for the rookie wideout, who should be catching footballs from a quarterback he's familiar with in practice in Patrick Mahomes. However, he and the Chiefs face a tough matchup against a Broncos defense that ranks fourth in the league (196.1 yards per game) against the pass.
