  • Buccaneers' Pierre Desir: Won't play Sunday

Desir (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Bills, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

The Buccaneers' cornerback corps is slowly returning to full strength, which has caused Desir to find himself as the odd man out. Through nine appearances this season, the 30-year-old has recorded 22 tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

  • Buccaneers' Pierre Desir: Picks off old squad in win

Desir collected six tackles (five solo) and an interception in the Buccaneers' 38-31 win over the Colts on Sunday.

Playing a season-high 61 snaps after a shoulder injury knocked Jamel Dean out of the game in the first quarter, Desir turned in a rock-solid IDP effort that included his first interception since Week 4 of last season. The 31-year-old journeyman could be due for a spot start in Week 13 against the Falcons if Dean is forced to sit out the contest and Carlton Davis (quadriceps) isn't deemed ready for a return.

  • Buccaneers' Pierre Desir: Racks up tackles in spot start

Desir totaled seven solo tackles and was credited with a defensed pass in the Buccaneers' 36-27 loss to the Saints in Week 8.

Fellow cornerback Richard Sherman was active despite a hamstring injury, but he ultimately remained on the sideline for the entire game and Desir logged a hefty 75-snap workload. The veteran corner gave up a 38-yard completion to 2015 first-round pick Kevin White, but at least his tackle tally checked in fourth on the afternoon for the Bucs. Sherman will likely be fully healthy after the Week 9 bye, which would relegate Desir back to a rotational role.

  • Buccaneers' Pierre Desir: Signed to active roster

The Buccaneers signed Desir off their practice squad Saturday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

The Buccaneers were already without Jamel Dean (knee) and Sean Murphy-Bunting (elbow) for Week 4, but Carlton Davis (abdomen/ribs) was also added to the injury report Saturday. Desir will join the active squad as a depth piece while Tampa Bay deals with injuries to its top three corners.

  • Pierre Desir: Joins Tampa Bay's practice squad

The Bucs signed Desir to their practice squad Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

Desir had three interceptions -- including a pick-six -- last year as he spilt time with the Jets and Ravens. He joined the Seahawks this offseason but was released a week before the 53-man roster deadline. The 31-year-old will have a chance for a promotion if Sean Murphy-Bunting (elbow) has to miss an extended period of time.

  • Pierre Desir: Tenure in Seattle at an end

The Seahawks cut Desir on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Desir inked a one-year deal with Seattle back in April, but he didn't do enough to earn a regular-season roster spot. The veteran cornerback appeared in 12 games between the Jets and Ravens last season.

  • Seahawks' Pierre Desir: Signing with Seahawks

Desir agreed Wednesday with the Seahawks on a one-year contract, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

The addition of Desir bolsters the Seahawks' depth at cornerback, with Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times noting that the move presumably makes it less likely that the team will consider signing free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman. In 12 games last season between the Jets and Ravens, Desir recorded 49 tackles and three picks.

  • Ravens' Pierre Desir: Elevated from practice squad

Desir was elevated from the Ravens' practice squad Friday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

After starting eight of nine games with the Jets this season, Desir will now be eligible to suit up for the Ravens. The veteran will provide cornerback depth in Saturday evening's divisional-round matchup against the Bills.

  • Pierre Desir: Joins Baltimore's practice squad

Desir signed with the Ravens' practice squad Saturday.

The veteran cornerback was cut by the Jets last week and will join the Ravens in advance of Week 12. Desir is only on the practice squad for now, but he could still be added to the active roster before Tuesday's matchup with the Steelers.

  • Ravens' Pierre Desir: Officially on Ravens

Desir has officially joined the Ravens' active roster, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Desir was expected to sign with the team but needed to pass his COVID-19 testing first. He was cut by the Jets last week after recording 47 tackles (37 solo) across nine games. He is now expected to provide depth at cornerback for Baltimore.

  • Pierre Desir: Expected to sign with Baltimore

Desir will sign with the Ravens once he passes COVID-19 testing, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Desir was cut by the Jets last week after starting eight games for the team and allowing 525 yards (13.5 yards per target) and four touchdowns in coverage. The 30-year-old cornerback will get a fresh start with a contender. Desir will simply add depth at the position, as Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters and Jimmy Smith are locked into starting roles. This move could become official before Thursday's game against the Steelers.

  • Pierre Desir: Cut loose by Jets

The Jets waived Desir on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Desir started eight of nine games for the Jets this season and allowed 525 yards (13.5 yards per target) and four touchdowns in coverage. Those are uninspiring numbers, but he'll now get a chance for a fresh start elsewhere. A contending team with secondary troubles may take a flier on the 30-year-old corner.

  • Jets' Pierre Desir: Racks up 11 tackles

Desir had a team-high 11 tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 30-10 loss to Arizona.

Desir continues to deliver strong performances in the box score, even as his on-field impact remains minimal if not negative. Given how large of a cushion Desir is forced to give receivers in front of him to make up for his lack of speed in coverage, he should continue to get plenty of opportunities for tackles if opposing quarterbacks take the open underneath routes like Kyler Murray did for much of this game. He has 19 tackles over the past two games.

  • Jets' Pierre Desir: Scores pick-six in loss

Desir recorded eight tackles (seven solo) and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, in Thursday's 37-28 loss to the Broncos.

Desir is having a perplexing season, as he now sits alone atop the league's interception leaderboard with three but has also been one of the NFL's worst cornerbacks in coverage. He let a sure interception go right through his hands for a 48-yard Jerry Jeudy touchdown in the second quarter, but Desir came back with a nice interception along the sideline on the next drive, and he picked off rookie quarterback Brett Rypien again early in the fourth quarter, returning the latter interception for a 35-yard touchdown. Desir continues to get burned on the outside with regularity due to his subpar speed, but he's also able to lure quarterbacks into mistakes with his veteran savvy. On a Jets team with few viable healthy alternatives at his position, Desir's good qualities should keep him in a starting role despite his obvious deficiencies.
