  • Mike Glennon: Goes back to practice squad

Glennon reverted to the Dolphins' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Glennon was brought up for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Jets with No. 1 quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) ruled out and Teddy Bridgewater (finger/knee) considered questionable to play. While the practice-squad quarterback was active, he never saw the field with rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson taking all 65 offensive snaps. Bridgewater was also ruled active pregame, so even if Tagovailoa remains sidelined for this coming Sunday's wild-card matchup versus Buffalo, it's unlikely Glennon will slot in as anything higher than the team's third-string quarterback.

  • Dolphins' Mike Glennon: Moves up to active roster

Glennon was elevated to the Dolphins' active roster Saturday.

At least for the moment, it appears as if rookie Skylar Thompson will get the start Sunday against the Jets, with Glennon possibly set to act as a backup with Teddy Bridgewater's (finger/knee) status still up in the air. Expect more clarification from the Dolphins prior to the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Mike Glennon: Joins Dolphins' practice squad

Miami is signing Glennon to the practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Glennon is inking with the Dolphins while Tua Tagovailoa remains in the concussion protocol and Teddy Bridgewater (finger) deals with a dislocated pinkie finger on his right hand. Coach Mike McDaniel suggested Tagovailoa will remain sidelined Week 18 versus the Jets, meaning if Bridgewater isn't available it would fall to rookie seventh-round pick Skylar Thompson to helm Miami's offense. In that scenario, Glennon could be tasked with handling backup duties.

  • Mike Glennon: Tries out with 49ers

The 49ers worked out Glennon for a potential backup QB role Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Glennon will have a shot to make San Francisco's roster, after the team's starting quarterback Trey Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury Sunday against the Seahawks. The veteran last suited up for the Giants in 2021, where he played in six games (four starts) and amassed 790 yards, four touchdowns and 10 interceptions, all while completing 53.9 percent of his passes. Glennon underwent offseason wrist surgery, but his Tuesday workout suggests he's fully recovered from the injury. With Jimmy Garoppolo and Brock Purdy currently listed as the only other QBs on the team's roster, the 49ers are likely to bring in either Glennon, Kurt Benkert, AJ McCarron, Garrett Gilbert or Kevin Hogan, all of whom also worked out for the team Tuesday and could provide added depth for San Francisco.
