The Celtics waived Nathan Knight on Tuesday, which opened up a two-way roster spot for Peterson. Peterson had spent the beginning of 2023-24 with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G League, averaging 15.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.0 steals across 13 appearances.

Peterson won't play in Friday's Summer League game against the Nuggets due to an undisclosed reason, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
It doesn't appear that Peterson has picked up an injury, but he will not be suiting up Friday. Peterson had been starting for Miami's Summer League squad and connected on two triples in his last outing.

Peterson signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Heat on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Peterson wasn't selected during Thursday's draft, but he'll have an opportunity to compete for a job with the Heat on a deal that will allow the team to convert his contract to a two-way deal before the regular season. During his final season at USC, he averaged 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 35.9 minutes per game.
