After coming over from Philadelphia in a Feb. 9 trade, Thybulle appeared in 22 games for Portland -- starting each time -- while averaging 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.5 three-pointers, 1.4 assists and 0.8 blocks in 27.6 minutes per contest. The defensive-minded wing is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, but it's unclear if Portland will look to retain him.

Thybulle has been downgraded from questionable to out Tuesday due to a right knee effusion. With Cam Reddish (back) and Trendon Watford (ankle) also out and Kevin Knox (knee) questionable, Shaedon Sharpe, Jabari Walker and Jeenathan Williams could see heavy workloads.

Even with numerous regulars sidelined, Thybulle's offensive production remains muted. He hasn't scored in double figures in any of the last seven games, but during that stretch, he has totaled eight steals and five blocks, making him worthy of streaming consideration for those categories.

Thybulle's hot start to his Portland career is nothing but a distant memory now, as he has failed to score more than six points in each of his past three games. During that time he has recorded a total of just three steals and one block, making him a non-factor in the majority of fantasy leagues. While he can still be viewed as a possible streaming candidate, there are likely safer options available given the number of teams throwing in the towel.
Thybulle ended with 15 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in 38 minutes during Tuesday's 123-107 loss to the Knicks.
Thybulle put together a strong performance in the loss, matching his season high in scoring. While his defensive production has been stable since arriving in Portland, Thybulle's offensive contributions have fluctuated, not unlike his career to this point. He has been able to add a somewhat reliable three-point shot to his repertoire but should still be viewed as a defensive streamer in most competitive leagues.

Thybulle has started all four games since being traded to Portland and is averaging 7.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 29.8 minutes per game. During that stretch, he's shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from deep. This is all very positive for the fourth-year forward, who saw his role dramatically dip in Philadelphia before being traded, but what puts Thybulle on fantasy radars is his strong production in the defensive categories. OG Anunoby currently leads the league with 2.0 steals per game, so if Thybulle can continue at his current pace, he may be one of the best streaming options for steals in category leagues during the fantasy playoffs.

Predictably, Thybulle's output on the offensive end took a step back in the second leg of the back-to-back set after he erupted for 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting from three-point range in his Trail Blazers debut Monday against the Lakers. Fantasy managers should take whatever they get from Thybulle in the scoring column as a bonus moving forward, but as long as he can hold down a 25-plus-minute role, he'll have some appeal as a specialist in the two defensive categories. On a per-36-minute basis, Thybulle has averaged 2.7 steals and 1.5 blocks for his career.

While Thybulle's bread and butter is undoubtedly his defense, the former 76er unexpectedly showed off his shooting touch, drilling a campaign-high four three-pointers and finishing with double-digit points for just the fourth time this season. The fourth-year pro didn't let down on defense either, swatting three shots and notching one theft. Thybulle isn't likely to put up these type of offensive numbers on a frequent basis, as he's yet to average more than 5.7 points per game in any professional campaign.
