  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Out at least one more week

Coach Jason Kidd said Thursday that Wood (thumb) will be re-evaluated in one week, Mavericks radio play-by-play broadcaster Chuck Cooperstein reports.

After sustaining a fractured left thumb a week ago against Atlanta, it seems that Wood will miss at least another week as he continues to recover. Expect the Mavericks to continue to rely on production from Dwight Powell and JaVale McGee while the center is out.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Sustains fractured thumb

Wood sustained a fractured left thumb in the second quarter of Wednesday's game against Atlanta and will be re-evaluated next week.

Wood had been especially productive for the Mavericks over the last few weeks, as he posted double-doubles in four of his last seven appearances and averaged 21.1 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 35.0 minutes per game. A better idea of his return timetable could come into focus once he's re-evaluated, but Dwight Powell, Davis Bertans and JaVale McGee are candidates to see increased run in Wood's absence.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Third straight 20-point game

Wood logged 22 points (9-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 130-122 loss to the Hawks.

Wood scored 11 of his 22 points in the third quarter on 4-of-6 shooting from the field before chipping in just two more points in the final period. He added nine boards in the contest, which tied Dorian Finney-Smith for the team lead, while also connecting on three attempts from beyond the arc for just the third time this month. Wood has now broken the 20-point mark in three straight contests and in five of his last six.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Claims double-double in loss

Wood (ankle) registered 23 points (8-22 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 6-7 FT), 16 rebounds, two assists and one block over 35 minutes during Sunday's 140-123 loss to the Trail Blazers.

After sitting out Saturday's loss to Portland with a right ankle sprain, Wood checked back into the lineup for the second half of the back-to-back set without any limitations. Wood took home his 10th double-double of the season in the blowout loss, but some rough shooting from three-point range and limited production in the defensive categories made his line less valuable in eight- and nine-category leagues. On the whole, Wood has still been an excellent performer since moving into the starting five Dec. 17. While starting in each of his last 15 appearances, Wood is averaging 20.2 points, 9.4 boards, 2.4 blocks, 2.2 three-pointers, 2.1 assists and 0.6 steals while shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 81.2 percent from the charity stripe.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Available Sunday

Wood (ankle) is available Sunday against the Trail Blazers.

Wood sat out the first half of the Mavericks' back-to-back set against Portland on Saturday, but he'll be available a day later. He's posted double-doubles in three of his last five appearances and has averaged 20.6 points and 10.2 rebounds in 35.0 minutes per game during that time.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Considered questionable

Wood (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against Portland.

Wood was held out of Saturday's loss to Portland with a right ankle sprain and is in danger of missing a second straight contest. If Wood is sidelined again, Dwight Powell and JaVale McGee would be candidates for increased roles.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Absent Saturday

Wood (ankle) will not play in Saturday's game against the Trail Blazers, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Wood will take a night to let his sprained right ankle heal before potentially facing off against the Trail Blazers in the second game of a back-to-back set Sunday. In his stead Saturday, Dwight Powell and JaVale McGee will see increased roles.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Nabs questionable tag

Wood is listed as questionable for Saturday's meeting with the Trail Blazers due to a sprained right ankle.

Wood logged 24 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and five blocks across 46 minutes of Thursday's double-OT win over the Lakers and appears to have also picked up an ankle injury. Considering the massive workload, and the fact that the Mavericks face the Trail Blazers again Sunday as part of a back-to-back set, the team could opt to give Wood a rest. If that were to be the case, Dwight Powell and JaVale McGee would be in line for more minutes.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Huge line in double-overtime win

Wood closed with 24 points (10-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 14 rebounds, six assists, five blocks and one steal in 48 minutes during Thursday's 119-115 double-overtime victory over the Lakers.

Wood played a season-high 47 minutes in the double-overtime victory, and he finished second on the Mavericks in scoring and assists while tying for the team lead in rebounds. His biggest impact may have been on the defensive end, where he tied a season high with five blocks. One of those swats came with Dallas up by one and under two minutes remaining, though Wood appeared to hurt his ankle when coming down after deflecting a Russell Westbrook layup attempt. However, after limping off the court, Wood returned to the contest and proceeded to block LeBron James on a layup try on Los Angeles' ensuing possession. Wood has started 13 of the Mavericks' past 15 contests and has emerged as the team's second-best weapon this season, averaging 18.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.8 three-pointers, 1.3 blocks and 0.5 steals over 40 games on the campaign.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Impresses against OKC

Wood finished with 27 points (8-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 10-12 FT), 16 rebounds and two assists across 39 minutes during Sunday's 120-109 loss to the Thunder.

Wood led the way for the Mavericks in this loss, and he finished as Dallas' main scoring weapon in a game where Luka Doncic (ankle) didn't play. Even if the star guard returns to action Tuesday against the Clippers, Wood should play a prominent role on offense. He's scored at least 20 points in five of his last six contests.

  • Mavericks' Christian Wood: Drops 28 points in 24 minutes

Wood closed with 28 points (9-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 6-7 FT), six rebounds, one assist and two blocks across 24 minutes during Saturday's 127-117 victory over New Orleans.

Wood was fantastic in the victory, scoring at least 20 points for the fifth time in his past seven games. After a rocky start to his Mavericks career, Wood has been balling out of late, putting up top-25 value over the past month. While his recent production may be unsustainable, there's certainly a chance he ends the season as a top 50 player if he can remain a consistent producer moving forward.
