The Pelicans announced Monday that McCollum (foot) will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season. McCollum has missed three straight games with a right foot contusion, and the Pelicans have decided to shut down the star guard for the rest of the campaign amid a losing season. With McCollum done for the year, Bruce Brown has a clear pathway to a starting role down the stretch. Over eight starts since landing in New Orleans, Brown has averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks in 28.3 minutes.... See More ... See Less

Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Remains out for Sunday
McCollum (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Hornets. McCollum will miss a third straight game for the Pelicans while nursing a contusion on his right foot. Jose Alvarado will likely get the starting nod, while Jordan Hawkins (back) and Elfrid Payton will pick up the slack off the bench in the backcourt.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Out Friday with bruised foot
McCollum (foot) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Warriors due to a right foot contusion. McCollum missed Monday's loss to the 76ers for rest purposes, but an injury will end up keeping him off the court Friday. The Pelicans will likely turn to Jose Alvarado, Jordan Hawkins and Elfrid Payton to shoulder the load in the backcourt against the Warriors.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Won't play Monday
McCollum will be rested Monday against the 76ers. After erupting for 40 points (16-28 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 37 minutes during Sunday's 136-130 loss to Detroit, McCollum is getting a maintenance day against the 76ers. In his absence, players such as Jose Alvarado, Jordan Hawkins and Elfrid Payton could step into increased roles for the Pelicans.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Drops 40 points in offensive outing
McCollum recorded 40 points (16-28 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 37 minutes during Sunday's 136-130 loss to Detroit. McCollum did it all for New Orleans offensively in Sunday's contest, leading all players in scoring and shots made while ending second on the team in threes made and assists during a losing effort. McCollum has scored 40 or more points four times this season, connecting on five or more threes in all those contests.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Scores 15 points on 15 shots
McCollum finished Friday's 134-93 loss to the Timberwolves with 15 points (6-15 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and four steals in 28 minutes. The Pelicans looked overmatched in this contest on both ends of the court, and McCollum, who finished with the same amount of points and field-goal attempts, was one of the few decent performers in this 41-point loss. McCollum has been struggling of late, reaching the 20-point mark in just two of his last six outings while shooting a subpar 36.5 percent from the floor in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Struggles in blowout loss
McCollum chipped in three points (1-15 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 1-5 FT), five assists, four rebounds and two steals over 30 minutes during Monday's 127-81 loss to the Pistons. McCollum delivered an abysmal performance from the field Monday, recording a season-low three points. The star combo guard has scored single-digit points in two of his last three outings, during which he has shot only 29.8 percent from the field. On the bright side, McCollum collected multiple swipes for the seventh time on the season.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Flirts with double-double in loss
McCollum ended Saturday's 119-115 loss to the Spurs with 26 points (10-22 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, nine assists and one steal over 33 minutes. McCollum continues to be a prolific producer during the Pelicans' lost season. The veteran guard bounced back from a modest nine-point performance against the Magic to lead the team in scoring. McCollum is now averaging 17.6 points, 5.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds across seven March contests.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Muted performance in loss
McCollum closed Thursday's 113-93 loss to Orlando with nine points (3-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and four assists across 23 minutes. McCollum couldn't generate much offense in this lopsided loss, while Jose Alvarado and Jordan Hawkins provided a spark off the bench with a combined 23 points. McCollum has been in a slump lately, as he's sitting outside the top-150 in nine-category formats over his last five games with 14.4 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.8 three-pointers in 28.5 minutes.... Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Will be avaliable Tuesday
McCollum is not on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Clippers. McCollum didn't play Sunday against the Grizzlies due to rest, but he should handle his regular workload Tuesday as one of the Pelicans' go-to options on offense. He's averaging 20.2 points per game since the beginning of February.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Won't play Sunday
McCollum won't play Sunday against the Grizzlies due to rest purposes. McCollum and Zion Williamson (conditioning) are both resting during the second night of a back-to-back set. Bruce Brown and Jose Alvarado (hop) are candidates to enter the starting lineup in McCollum's absence. The veteran point guard should be back in action Tuesday against the Clippers.... See More ... Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Muted performance in loss
McCollum amassed 13 points (5-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes during Thursday's 109-97 loss to the Rockets. This was a rough showing for McCollum, but fantasy managers can at least be satisfied with the usage rate. McCollum has been in a bit of a slump lately, as he's been producing at an 11th-round valuation in nine-category formats over his last 10 games. During that stretch, McCollum posted averages of 19.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.0 three-pointers on 45.1 percent shooting from the field.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Set to return Sunday
McCollum (rest) is not on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Jazz. McCollum missed the second leg of the back-to-back set against the Suns on Friday due to rest-related reasons, but the veteran guard is set to return to the hardwood Friday. He's averaging a solid line of 21.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game since the beginning of February.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Resting Friday
McCollum has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Suns due to rest purposes. McCollum will get a breather for the second leg of a back-to-back set after he appeared in each of the Pelicans' previous six games while averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 three-pointers in 32.3 minutes per contest. With McCollum sidelined, the Pelicans will likely lean more heavily on Jordan Hawkins and Jose Alvarado out of the backcourt.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Scores 19 points in win
McCollum amassed 19 points (7-18 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists over 34 minutes during Thursday's 124-116 win over the Suns. Zion Williamson (rest) led the way for the Pelicans with a triple-double. Still, McCollum was among several New Orleans players who delivered a solid performance in this tight win. That said, the veteran has been struggling in the efficiency department in recent days. In four games since the All-Star break, McCollum is shooting 37.3 percent from the floor and 27.6 percent from deep while averaging 15.0 points per game. Those figures are a sizable drop compared to his season-long averages of 21.9 points per game, shooting 44.9 percent from the floor and 37.4 percent from deep.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Lights it up from deep in OT win
McCollum produced 43 points (16-25 FG, 7-12 3Pt, 4-6 FT), seven rebounds and two assists in 41 minutes during Thursday's 140-133 overtime win over the Kings. McCollum was red-hot from three in Thursday's overtime battle, leading all players in scoring and threes made while finishing second on the team in rebounds in a balanced 40-point showcase. McCollum has connected on seven or more threes in three outings this season, surpassing the 40-point mark on three occasions. He has posted at least 40 points and seven boards in two contests this year.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Available to play
McCollum (personal) is available for Wednesday's game against the Kings, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. McCollum missed his first game since Nov. 22 on Monday against the Thunder, but he'll return from a one-game absence. Karlo Matkovic drew the start in McCollum's absence Monday, but he's not a lock to move back to the bench since Zion Williamson (rest) is expected to sit out either Wednesday or Thursday against the Kings.... Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Questionable against Sacramento
McCollum (personal) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Kings. McCollum is in danger of missing his second straight contest Wednesday due to personal reasons. If the veteran guard is forced to sit out yet again, Jose Alvarado and Karlo Matkovic will likely continue to receive increased playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Out Monday for personal reasons
McCollum has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Thunder due to personal reasons. McCollum is slated to miss his first game since Nov. 22, and his next chance to suit up will come Wednesday in Sacramento, the first half of a back-to-back set for New Orleans before the All-Star break. With Brandon Boston (ankle) also sidelined, Javonte Green, Jordan Hawkins and Antonio Reeves are all candidates for increased roles.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Strikes for 31 in Sacramento
McCollum logged 31 points (10-19 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 33 minutes during Saturday's 123-118 loss to the Kings. The veteran guard hit the 30-point mark for the second time in the last three games, continuing a surge that has seen McCollum average 24.4 points, 4.1 boards, 3.7 assists and 3.5 threes over the last 10 contests while shooting 42.7 percent from beyond the arc. Despite those efforts, the Pelicans have lost eight straight games as an injury-ravaged roster's lack of depth keeps catching up to them -- New Orleans blew an early 20-point lead against Sacramento.... Scott Kushner@ScottDKushner13H agoI’m not blaming them for lottery luck, but I’ve never been this down on the future of the Pelicans. This team badly needs something to galvanize its handful of remaining supporters. A new arena. A big trade. A big-name coach. Something. Anything. Joe Dumars ain’t it.

Scott Kushner@ScottDKushner21D agoAfter the miserable, contentious, blame-fest of a 2019-20 season I never thought the Pelicans would want to put themselves through that again. Griff and Gentry bickered through a year of arranged marriage only for it to meet its demise after one frustrating year.

Scott Kushner@ScottDKushner29D agoVery curious to see if the Pelicans are able to spin the Dumars hire into a massive positive. They usually find a way. A lot of stuff about his success 20 years ago as the focal point, is my guess. Probably won’t hear much about Darko, Iverson, Stuckey or the last decade.
