  • Spurs' Quincy Pondexter: Outside of rotation

Pondexter (coach's decision) didn't see the floor Sunday in the Spurs' 103-95 loss to the Clippers.

Pondexter has found himself outside of the rotation essentially the entire season and doesn't have much hope of finding minutes with the team at full strength minus Dejounte Murray (knee), who has been sidelined since October. The 30-year-old forward hasn't seen action in any of the past three contests and hasn't left the bench in nine of the past 15 games.

  • Spurs' Quincy Pondexter: Plays nine minutes in Tuesday's win

Pondexter pitched in three points (1-1 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three rebounds, and two assists in nine minutes during Tuesday's 111-86 win over the Suns.

Pondexter continues to see some action every now and then. However, he has only earned double-digit minutes seven times this season without reaching 20 minutes once through 23 appearances. Pondexter is behind too many players on the depth chart to warrant much attention even in the deepest leagues.

  • Spurs' Quincy Pondexter: Signs with Spurs

Pondexter signed a one-year contract with the Spurs on Monday, Chris Haynes of ESPN reports.

With Monday's retirement announcement of future Hall of Famer Manu Ginobili, the Spurs found themselves with another open roster spot heading into training camp. That allowed the team to offer Pondexter a one-year deal, which according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic, is only partially guaranteed. After missing two full seasons due to three separate knee surgeries, Pondexter returned to the NBA during the 2017-18 campaign, but wound up playing in just 23 games for the Bulls before getting cut in February. He finished with averages of just 2.0 points and 1.2 rebounds across 8.5 minutes. If Pondexter does in fact make the final regular-season roster, he'll slot in as depth on the wing. That said, he's highly unlikely to find enough minutes to be fantasy relevant.

  • Quincy Pondexter: To be let go by Bulls

Pondexter will be released by the Bulls, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports.

With the Bulls taking on three contracts in exchange for Nikola Mirotic on Thursday, they'll release Pondexter in order to create the necessary roster space. Pondexter has hardly been a featured member of the Bulls' rotation this season after returning from a knee injury that caused a lengthy absence, and he will now be on the open market with the ability to sign on with another team.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Heads to bench Friday

Pondexter will come off the bench for Friday's game against the Hornets while Denzel Valentine draws the start, Chuck Swirsky of the Bulls Radio Network reports.

Pondexter saw 21 minutes during the team's most recent game while Justin Holiday (personal) was out. With Holiday returning, Pondexter head back to the bench, however. On the year, he's posting 4.3 points across 12.1 minutes per game.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Starting at small forward Wednesday

Pondexter will draw the start at small forward over Paul Zipser for Wednesday's game against the Thunder, Vincent Goodwill of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Pondexter has had a limited role over his past five appearances, posting 2.4 points across 7.6 minutes per game. However, with Justin Holiday (personal) out Wednesday, coach Fred Hoiberg has switched things up, opting to give Pondexter the nod at small forward over Paul Zipser. Through the team's first five games, Pondexter averaged 6.8 points and 2.8 rebounds across 15.5 minutes per game -- a role that may be more indicative of what we could see Wednesday.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Scoreless in six minutes Wednesday

Pondexter went scoreless (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) in six minutes during Wednesday's 97-91 loss to the Heat.

Pondexter has made an incredible journey back to the basketball court amid serious health concerns, but he's not a very trustworthy option in fantasy. With that being said, Pondexter is averaging 5.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 14.2 minutes through five appearances -- and he is yet to get it going from beyond the arc (one-for-12), so his numbers could improve over time if he starts earning more minutes.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Available to play Thursday

Pondexter (hamstring) has been cleared for Thursday's regular-season opener against the Raptors, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Coach Fred Hoiberg said that Pondexter is available if needed, so that doesn't necessarily guarantee he'll see the court. Still, with both Nikola Mirotic (face) and Bobby Portis (suspension) facing extended absences, the Bulls could certainly use the added depth in the frontcourt from Pondexter, so he could get some added run if the hamstring injury doesn't flare up.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Expected to play Thursday

Pondexter (hamstring) "should be" ready to play Thursday, Mike McGraw of the Daily Herald reports.

Though it hasn't yet been confirmed, it appears Pondexter is recovering from his left hamstring strain well. With both Nikola Mirotic (face) and Bobby Portis (suspension) out for an extended period, Pondexter could end up seeing significant run at small forward while the team figures out a rotation.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Won't play in preseason finale

Pondexter (hamstring) will not play in Friday's preseason finale against the Raptors, Chuck Swirsky of the Bulls Radio Network reports.

A strained left hamstring will keep Pondexter off the floor once again, and the swingman will officially miss the entire preseason. There's been no word of Pondexter returning to practice in any capacity, but that's possibly because the team wants to remain cautious given his injury history. Consider Pondexter questionable-at-best to play in next week's season opener in Toronto.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Out for Tuesday's exhibition

Pondexter (hamstring) has been ruled out for Tuesday's preseason matchup with the Cavaliers, Bulls radio play-by-play announcer Chuck Swirsky reports.

Pondexter has been dealing with a strained left hamstring for a little over a week now and still isn't feeling healthy enough to take the floor. The oft-injured forward sat out the last two seasons entirely with multiple knee injuries, so the Bulls will likely continue to be extremely cautious with him through the early portion of the season. For now, consider Pondexter questionable for Friday's preseason finale against the Raptors.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Out for first two preseason games

Pondexter (hamstring) will miss the Bulls' first two preseason contests, KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Pondexter left Saturday's practice with a strained left hamstring, and while it's the same leg on which he's undergone three knee surgeries, the issues are believed to be unrelated. Expect the Bulls to handle the veteran, who has not played in a regular season game since 2015, with caution throughout the preseason. His next chance to take the court will come Friday against Milwaukee.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Suffers left hamstring injury

Pondexter strained his left hamstring toward the end of Saturday's practice session and will receive additional evaluation Sunday, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Johnson also notes that it's the same leg in which Pondexter has undergone three knee surgeries, but this appears to be a separate issue. More information on his status should arrive after he undergoes further tests Sunday.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Good to go for training camp

Pondexter (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of trainging camp Tuesday, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Pondexter, who was traded from the Pelicans to the Bulls at the end of August, appears to finally be healthy after multiple knee injuries costed him his last two seasons entirely. The fact that he's expected to practice Tuesday is a good sign that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season, though his injury history alone could result in limited minutes for much of the season. He'll be an extremely risky fantasy option for those even in deeper leagues and it may be wise to take a cautious approach with him until a more defined role is given.

  • Bulls' Quincy Pondexter: Traded to Chicago

Pondexter, along with a 2018 second-round pick, was traded from the Pelicans to the Bulls in exchange for a pick and cash on Thursday, Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago reports.

Pondexter hasn't seen the floor since the 2014-15 season due to three separate knee surgeries, though the Bulls don't seem to mind the risk, assuming management doesn't waive him. Pondexter, at 29-years-old, will give Chicago both a veteran presence and a three-point threat. He's shot 36.5 percent from deep on his career, with his best season from beyond the arc coming back in 2012-13 when he made 39.5 percent of his shots from distance. His path to significant playing time is cloudy, however, as the Bulls are seemingly in full-on tank mode and are assumed to be prioritizing the development of their younger players. For that reason, plus his injury history, it's probably safe to avoid Pondexter in the vast majority of fantasy formats.

  • Pelicans' Quincy Pondexter: Suffering from knee infection

Pondexter (knee) had in infection in his knee after his most recent surgery that prolonged his recovery time, Justin Verrier of ESPN reports.

Pondexter has sat out the past two seasons while undergoing three separate knee surgeries, the most recent one taking place in January. It's unclear how severe the infection in his knee was, or how long it prolonged his recovery time. Pelicans' general manager Dell Demps expressed concern that Pondexter would not be able to recover in time for next season, but added that the team remained hopeful he would make a full recovery.
