Cartier Martin: Signs contract with D-League team
Martin agreed to a contract Friday with the D-League's Iowa Energy, international basketball writer David Pick reports.
After getting waived by the Pistons in training camp last fall, Martin spent the entire 2015-16 campaign with the Energy, averaging 20.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. The 31-year-old is a veteran of 243 NBA games and could earn a promotion back to the game's highest level later this season when injuries inevitably take their toll on backcourts across the league.

Cartier Martin: Waived Friday
Martin was waived by the Pistons on Friday.
Martin appeared in only 23 games last season, averaging 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists in just under nine minutes per game. The Pistons also waived Jordan Bachynski and Adonis Thomas on Friday, meaning they'll have to make one more subtraction before the start of the regular season.

Piston PF Cartier Martin still nursing sprained wrist
Pistons forward Cartier Martin is still wearing a brace to protect his sprained right wrist, Keith Langlois of Pistons.com reports.
Martin was limited to shooting with his left hand during Monday's practice as a result of the injury. It's uncertain if he'll be able to heal up in time to make a serious run at an opening-night roster spot with the Pistons.

Pistons' Cartier Martin: Sits Thursday with injury
Martin missed his second straight preseason game Thursday due to a right wrist injury, MLive.com's Aaron McCann reports.
Martin is one of several players in contention for the 15th and final spot on the Pistons' roster, so he'll likely need to get back on the court quickly in order to demonstrate to the coaching staff that he's the most qualified man for the job. The 30-year-old appeared in 23 games for Detroit last season, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game.
