Another rung up the ladder for Steve Nash

Saturday against the Denver Nuggets, Nash tallied ten assists in the first half. He need only four to pass Oscar Robertson for fifth all-time on the NBA's assist leaders.

It's another feather in what is becoming a very likely Hall of Fame career, regardless of whether he wins a title. Nash will always face detractors because of their belief in Kobe Bryant's MVP candidacy in 2006 and because of his defensive limitations (on account of a back condition). But there have simply been fewer better at his position in the history of the game.

Again, Nash is doing this at age 38. He's producing at such a high level, it should be noted that most of the point guards in the league can't do what he's doing. Without him, the Suns aren't just out of the playoff race, they're not even within binocular range.

So Nash goes over Big O on the list. And hey, to pass John Stockton for first he'd only have to play for approximately another 15 years. So there's that. Best of luck, Steve.

Robertson talllied 9,887 assists in 14 seasons.
