Turang went 3-for-8 (.375) with a double, an RBI, three runs, a walk and a stolen base over his last three exhibition appearances. Turang racked up just a pair of singles over his first four games of the spring, but he got going a bit over the past week. Turang has a case to break camp with the big club, but given the glut of infielders on Milwaukee's 40-man roster, it seems most likely he will begin the season with Triple-A Nashville.... Brewers' Brice Turang: Protected from Rule 5 draft
Turang was added to the Brewers' 40-man roster Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. While Turang continues to toe the line between future starting second baseman or utility player, he was a lock to get added to Milwaukee's 40-man roster as protection from the Rule 5 draft. Turang can play all three up-the-middle spots and hit .286/.360/.412 with 13 home runs and 34 steals in 131 games at Triple-A. He turns 23 this month and should serve as Kolten Wong insurance in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Brice Turang: Turning up heat at Triple-A
Turang went 2-for-4 with a home run and a season-high five RBI in a game with Triple-A Nashville on Friday. Power has never been Turang's calling card, but he seems to have found something in that department, as over his last 23 games with Nashville he recorded five doubles, six homers, 21 RBI and a .570 slugging percentage -- a mark far better than the .367 SLG he owns over his career. Turang has done all he can to earn a call-up to the big leagues, and a late-season promotion is not out of the question.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Brice Turang: Reaching base regularly
Turang went 24-for-80 (.300) with six RBI, five stolen bases and a 12:16 BB:K over his last 20 games with Triple-A Nashville. Turang recorded only two doubles, a triple and no home runs over that 20-game stretch, but he fared well in both the batting average and OBP (.391) departments. The 22-year-old is making a case to join the major-league ranks for the first time, but the Brewers are set at the shortstop position and Turang is not ready to handle center field at the top level, so a call-up does not appear imminent.... Brewers' Brice Turang: Adding defensive versatility
Turang will play center field roughly once a week this season at Triple-A Nashville, Sounds play-by-play announcer Jeff Hem reports. Sounds manager Rick Sweet was emphatic that the organization still views him as a shortstop, but the reality is Willy Adames isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so Turang will need to add some defensive versatility in order to increase his chances of getting looks in the majors. He is hitting .261/.346/.435 with zero home runs, zero steals, six strikeouts and three walks through six games.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Brice Turang: Shines in season debut
Turang went 1-for-2 with a triple, a run, an RBI and two walks in Tuesday's season opener with Triple-A Nashville. Turang is one of the more-heralded prospects in the Brewers' system, and his 2022 campaign got off to a good start. He posted just a .696 OPS in his first go-around at the Triple-A level last season, but that did include a quality .381 OBP. The Brewers are not particularly deep on the infield, so Turang has a chance to make his big-league debut sometime this season.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Brice Turang: Bumped up to Triple-A
Turang was promoted from Double-A Biloxi to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. The 21-year-old middle infielder hit .264/.329/.385 with five home runs and 11 steals in 73 games at Double-A. It was an age-appropriate level for Turang, and his 15 percent strikeout rate was quite impressive, given the caliber of pitching at Double-A. However, he was just a touch below league average (98 wRC+) due to his middling on-base percentage and lack of power (.122 ISO). He could make his big-league debut next season.... See More ... Brewers' Brice Turang: Stacking up hits at Double-A
Turang has gone 11-for-30 (.366) with a double, a triple, four RBI and a 4:5 BB:K over his last seven games with Double-A Biloxi. Turang is seeing action at the Double-A level for the first time, and after picking up just three hits over his first eight games, he's picked up the pace in a big way. With the Brewers having acquired fellow shortstop Willy Adames, it seems unlikely Turang will make his MLB debut this year. However, he spent spring training with the big-league club and is one of the Brewers' top prospects, so he could at least reach Triple-A if he keeps producing at the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Brice Turang: Invited to big-league camp
The Brewers announced Wednesday that Turang will attend big-league spring training as a non-roster invitee, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. The 21-year-old is among a handful of the Brewers' top prospects who will get the opportunity to showcase his skills at big-league camp before likely being reassigned to the minors shortly before Opening Day. Since the 2020 minor-league season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Turang's last affiliated-ball action came in 2019, when he split time between Low-A Wisconsin and High-A Carolina. Though Turang provided a lowly .707 OPS between the two levels, the Brewers could still choose to have him open 2021 at Double-A Biloxi to make up for the lost developmental year.... See More ... Brewers' Brice Turang: Spending spring with big club
Turang recorded his first hit of the spring in Wednesday's exhibition game against the White Sox. Turang is spending spring training with the big club for the second year in a row, and he has appeared in six games to date. It's almost certain he will be an option for the big club this season, but as one of the club's top prospects the Brewers are allowing him to get more comfortable in a major-league environment. Turang reached the High-A level last season for the first time but posted just a .615 OPS over 47 games, so it seems likely he will be assigned there to begin the 2020 campaign.... See More ... Brewers' Brice Turang: Advances to High-A
Turang was promoted to High-A Carolina on Monday, Duane Cross of MiLB.com reports. Turang's final hit for Low-A Wisconsin was a walkoff single Sunday against Beloit. The 19-year-old will move up a level after posting a .287/.384/376 line in 82 games, stealing 21 bags while hitting two homers. He hasn't shown any real power to this point, but his speed is impressive, as is his control of the plate, as he struck out just 15.1 percent of the time while posting a 13.7 percent walk rate.... Brewers' Brice Turang: Off to good start
Turang is 15-for-52 (.288) with five RBI, four stolen bases and an 8:9 BB:K through 14 games with Low-A Wisconsin. Turang has just three extra-base hits thus far -- all doubles -- but the 19-year-old is getting the job done in the contact and on-base departments, and is showing some speed. He has demonstrated quality plate discipline and has been efficient swiping bases since being taken in the first round last year, posting a 39:43 BB:K and 18 steals in 21 attempts over 56 minor-league games.... Brewers' Brice Turang: Ready for full-season ball
Turang will begin his season with Low-A Wisconsin, according to Mike Rosenbaum of MLB.com. Turang appeared in 42 rookie-league games after being selected in the first round last summer, and the Brewers saw enough to have him open 2019 playing full-season ball for the first time. Turang had good results in his first year as a professional, hitting .283/.396/.352 while posting a 31:34 BB:K and notching 14 steals in 16 attempts.... See More ... See Less

The Brewer Nation@BrewerNation5D agoMaybe dumb, but I'm curious if Urías plays any 3B when he's back with the #Brewers this week. He played 2B before he left MLB camp. Almost all his innings for Mexico were at 2B. Many agree it's his best position. Is Brosseau at 3B if Anderson is in RF? Urías at 3B & keep Turang?
