The Diamondbacks are looking to trade utility infielder John McDonald, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported Tuesday.

McDonald, 38, is valuable largely for his defense as he plays an excellent shortstop and is competent at second base and third base. He hit .249/.295/.386 (79 OPS+) in 70 games for Arizona in 2012 and is a .239/.276/.331 (61 OPS+) career hitter.

McDonald is due $1.5 million for the 2013 season and will be a free agent following the season.
