The Cavaliers announced Wednesday that Wade (knee) is considered out indefinitely and won't be available for the remainder of the team's first-round playoff series with the Magic. Wade hasn't taken the floor since March 8 due to a right knee sprain, and a timeline for his return remains uncertain after a recent MRI revealed that the big man will need more time to heal up. The 27-year-old finished the regular season with averages of 5.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers, 0.8 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks in 20.5 minutes per game over 54 appearances (32 starts).... Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Ruled out for Game 3
Wade (knee) didn't practice Wednesday and will be unavailable for Thursday's Game 3 against the Magic, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports. Wade hasn't suited up since March 8 due to a right knee sprain, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return. However, the team has been evaluating him on a game-by-game basis, and his next chance to suit up will be in Saturday's Game 4.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Won't play Game 2
Wade (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's Game 2 against Orlando. Wade's next opportunity to take the court comes with additional rest, as the series switches to Orlando for Game 3 on Thursday. He hasn't played since March 8 due to a right knee sprain, and the Cavaliers haven't indicated that Wade is likely to be ready to suit up at any point during the series.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Won't suit up Saturday
Wade (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's Game 1 against the Magic. Wade has not played since March 8, a 33-minute start where he accumulated zero points, four rebounds, two assists and a block. It's unclear when the 27-year-old will be able to return.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Doesn't practice, unlikely to play
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff said Wade (knee) didn't practice Wednesday and is unlikely to play in Saturday's Game 1 against the Magic, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports. Wade carved out a substantial role when the Cavaliers dealt with multiple injuries, mainly to Evan Mobley, earlier in the season, but he hasn't played since March 8 due to a knee injury. In Wade's likely absence, Georges Niang and Marcus Morris are candidates for a few extra minutes off the bench.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Shut down for regular season
Cavaliers head coach JB Bickerstaff said Friday that Wade (knee) won't play in Cleveland's final two regular season games, and his availability for the playoffs is uncertain, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports. Wade will miss his 18th and 19th straight games due to a right knee sprain to close out the regular season. In his last two appearances before being shut down with the injury, Wade had started and played 30-plus minutes on both occasions, but the Cavaliers were without Evan Mobley at that time. With Mobley now healthy, Wade will likely be ticketed for a small backup role in the frontcourt if he's cleared to play at some point during the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Another absence coming
Wade (knee) won't play in Wednesday's game versus the Grizzlies. Wade's absence streak will extend to 17 games Wednesday as he continues to deal with a right knee sprain. Cleveland has only two more contests before the end of the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Rest of season in jeopardy
Wade's knee soreness is now being diagnosed as a knee sprain, and it's unclear if he will be able to return this season, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Wade has not taken the court since March 8, being sidelined for the last 12 contests. Fedor notes that Wade's knee "finally started making progress recently after the latest form of treatment," and that the coaching staff still regards him as day-to-day. His injury absence began just two games after booming for a career-high 23 points to fuel a comeback win over Boston on March 5. Wade has dealt with a myriad of lower body injuries dating back to his days at Kansas State, and he has been limited to a total of just 149 games across the past three seasons. Wade is doing "everything possible" to return to action, but it's safe to say that he can be ruled out for Cleveland's upcoming back-to-back set versus Utah and Phoenix on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.... Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Won't play Friday
Wade (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game in Minnesota. Wade will miss his seventh straight game Friday, and given that the Cavaliers are ruling him out more than 24 hours in advance of the contest, it's likely that he misses additional time beyond the matchup with the Timberwolves.... Wade is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Rockets due to right knee soreness. Wade (personal) rejoined the Cavaliers and practiced Friday, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Wade was away for three days for the birth of his child but is on track to return for Saturday's game in Houston. With Evan Mobley (ankle) still out, Wade should reclaim a solid rotational role and may replace Georges Niang in the starting lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Unavailable Sunday
Wade is out for Sunday's game against Brooklyn while tending to a personal matter. Wade's defensive versatility and occasional offensive contributions have been a huge stabilizing force in Cleveland's frontcourt this season, but his absence will loom even larger than normal Sunday with Evan Mobley currently in the midst of a multi-game absence due to an ankle sprain. Sam Merrill, Georges Niang and Caris LeVert could all absorb some extra minutes as a result while Cleveland likely leans on smaller lineups with two key big men unavailable in addition to two other starters in Donovan Mitchell (knee) and Max Strus (knee)....
