Crochet (2-4) earned the win after he pitched six innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six batters in Sunday's 5-1 victory over the Cardinals. Crochet was able to make it back-to-back strong outings Sunday, limiting the Cardinals to just one run on a fourth-inning solo home run by Willson Contreras. The left-hander secured his first quality start since April 3 in the win and he has now allowed just three runs over 11 innings in his last two outings. Crochet will carry a 5.31 ERA and 11.7 K/9 into his next projected start Friday at home versus the Guardians.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Gets back on track
Crochet didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk across five innings against the Twins. He struck out seven. After surrendering five or more runs in three straight starts, Crochet snapped out of the funk and only allowed the Twins to score on a two-run homer by Carlos Santana in the second frame. Crochet also had strong command, walking just one batter after yielding seven walks and two hit-by-pitches in his last three outings. Although Crochet has been inconsistent to kick off 2024, his strikeout stuff has been elite, boasting the second most K's in baseball. He's lined up for a Saturday start against the Cardinals.... White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Another tough start
Crochet (1-4) took the loss Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings against the Twins. He struck out six. Crochet surrendered at least five runs for a third straight start, each of which lasted less than five innings and resulted in a loss for Crochet. After an impressive start to the season (four earned runs over 18 innings), Crochet has been equally unimpressive in his last three appearances, yielding 17 earned runs over 11.2 frames. Overall, Crochet owns a 6.37 ERA and 40:8 K:BB in six starts, and he's lined up for a rematch with the Twins early next week.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: K's eight in first-career start
Crochet (0-1) went six innings and took the loss Thursday against the Tigers, allowing one run on five hits and no walks. He struck out eight. It was an impressive performance for Crochet, who earned the Opening Day nod despite having never made a start in his previous 72 big-league outings. The lefty struck out eight while going toe-to-toe with Kansas City's Tarik Skubal, who also tossed six innings but didn't yield a single run. Crochet is set for a tougher matchup his next time out, as he currently lines up to face Atlanta at home next week.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Draws Opening Day nod
The White Sox announced Monday that Crochet will start the team's season opener March 28 versus the Tigers in Chicago. A converted reliever who has yet to make a big-league start and is just under two years removed from Tommy John surgery, Crochet is a bold choice for the Opening Day starting nod. The White Sox's decision to go with Crochet for the season opener speaks to the organization's lack of attractive alternatives, though the 24-year-old lefty at least brings some upside to the table. After struggling with his control late last season when he rejoined the White Sox bullpen following his recovery from elbow surgery, Crochet has looked far sharper this spring, striking out 12 and walking none while working around seven hits across nine scoreless frames. Fantasy managers shouldn't jump to any grand conclusions based on the spring numbers, but the improved results along with the White Sox's commitment to him in a starting role are enough to put Crochet on the radar as a late-round target in fantasy drafts.... White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Could start season in rotation
White Sox general manager Chris Getz on Monday didn't rule out Crochet beginning the season in the major-league rotation, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Getz added that he expects Crochet to be on the Opening Day roster in some fashion, whether that's in the rotation or perhaps in a long relief role as he gets stretched back out to start. All 84 of Crochet's appearances in pro ball to this point have come in relief, so getting his stamina built up at the big-league level will be tricky.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Preparing to start in 2024
White Sox general manager Chris Getz revealed Tuesday that Crochet is preparing to be a starting pitcher in 2024, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Getz admits that it will take a while for Crochet to be appropriately stretched out to start, but it's the role the club has planned for him. It's not clear at this point whether the stretching-out phase will occur in the majors or minors, or both. Crochet missed all of the 2022 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and was limited to 25 appearances between the majors and minors in 2023 due to a shoulder problem, although he ended the year with a clean bill of health. The southpaw has made 84 appearances in pro ball (72 in the majors), and all of them have been out of the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Closing in on return
Crochet (shoulder) is close to being activated from the injured list, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Per the report Crochet will throw a bullpen session at some point during Chicago's three-game series against Washington that begins Monday, and if all goes well he will likely rejoin the roster shortly after that.... White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Moves rehab to Triple-A
Crochet (shoulder) advanced his rehab assignment Wednesday from Double-A Birmingham to Triple-A Charlotte, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Crochet struck out five batters and issued no walks over two scoreless -- and hitless -- innings of relief at the Double-A level. Out since June 20 due to left shoulder inflammation, he could return to the White Sox as early as this weekend.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Re-starts rehab assignment
Crochet (shoulder) re-started a rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham on Wednesday, MLB.com reports. The left-hander has been sidelined since late June with shoulder inflammation and had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment following a setback. Crochet struck out a pair in a perfect frame for the Barons on Wednesday in what was his first appearance in exactly two months. He's hoping to rejoin the White Sox' bullpen before the end of the season.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Pulled off rehab assignment
Crochet (shoulder) was pulled off his rehab assignment Friday due to a recurrence of left shoulder inflammation, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Crochet had made two rehab appearances and looked to be on track to return to the White Sox bullpen early next week, but now his IL stint seems certain to extend into August. The 24-year-old reliever has been on the shelf since June 20 because of left shoulder trouble.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Set for multiple innings Thursday
Crochet (shoulder) will pitch multiple innings during his next rehab appearance with Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Manager Pedro Grifol said the White Sox will need multi-inning contributions from Crochet once the 24-year-old lefty returns from the injured list, so Thursday's outing will help get Crochet prepared for his new role. Crochet pitched just two-thirds of an inning in his first rehab appearance and has thrown two full innings once in the majors this season.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Out 2-to-3 weeks
Crochet received a cortisone shot Wednesday to treat the inflammation in his left shoulder, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Early estimates put Crochet somewhere between 2-to-3 weeks out from returning to game action, making it likely he returns shortly after the All-Star break. The 24-year-old lefty already missed over a month earlier this year while recovering from Tommy John surgery.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Placed on injured list
The White Sox placed Crochet on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with left shoulder inflammation. This marks the second IL stint of the season for Crochet, who previously missed the first month and a half of the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He will now be shelved again until the beginning of July while Jimmy Lambert (ankle) returns from the injured list to replace Crochet in the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Moving rehab to Triple-A
Crochet (elbow) is moving up to Triple-A Charlotte to continue his rehab assignment, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Crochet was knocked around for four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.1 innings covering three rehab appearances with Double-A Binghamton. More important is the fact he seems to be feeling healthy as he nears the end of his long rehab from Tommy John surgery. Crochet is preparing to serve as a multi-inning reliever with the White Sox.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Cleared for rehab assignment
Crochet (elbow) is set to begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Double-A Birmingham, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Crochet got the go-ahead from team doctors Thursday to return to live competition. Now nearly 13 months removed from Tommy John surgery, the talented young lefty should be an option for the White Sox bullpen sometime in May.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Moves to 15-day IL
The White Sox placed Crochet (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Thursday. Crochet missed all of 2022 and will get a late start to 2023 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He's throwing off a mound, though, and it would seem to be a good sign that he hasn't been placed on the 60-day IL.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Impresses in live bullpen
Crochet (elbow) threw a live bullpen Friday and will throw another session Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Crochet received positive reviews for his bullpen Friday, and it's a positive sign that he's able to throw again a few days later. The southpaw missed the 2022 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he will assuredly open the 2023 campaign on the injured list. When healthy, Crochet has shown electric stuff, and he likely will be a high-leverage option for the White Sox when he does return in the coming weeks.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Ramping up activity
Crochet (elbow) is raising the intensity of his weekly bullpen sessions, MLB.com reports. Crochet had been throwing two bullpen sessions per week but with a lower level of intensity. His timeline to return from Tommy John surgery remains in mid-May, though the White Sox also clarified that the plan is for Crochet to pitch in extended spring training games before going on a rehab assignment with a minor-league affiliate.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: Could return in May
The White Sox expect Crochet (elbow) to return in mid-May, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. The lefty, nearing the end of his recovery from Tommy John surgery, will sit out the White Sox's Cactus League slate before likely beginning a rehab assignment in April. Crochet posted a 2.82 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 54.1 relief innings in 2021, and he could be a valuable piece of Chicago's bullpen if he returns to form following April 2022 Tommy John surgery....
