Holder signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Dec. 15. Holder's deal likely includes an invitation to big-league spring training, whenever that might be held while MLB's lockout remains ongoing. A 2015 first-round pick of the Yankees, Holder advanced to Triple-A for the first time in his career in 2021. The 27-year-old infielder saw action in 78 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, slashing .216/.295/.272 with a home run and two stolen bases across 287 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less

Yankees' Kyle Holder: Makes return to action
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre activated Holder (knee) from its 7-day injured list Thursday, Conor Foley of The Scranton Times-Tribune reports. Holder had been held out of action for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since May 12 due to the knee injury. Prior to getting shut down, the 27-year-old infielder went 4-for-23 over his seven games with the affiliate.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Kyle Holder: Sent back to Yankees
Holder was sent back to the Yankees and assigned to the team's alternate training site Tuesday. Holder was selected by the Phillies in the Rule 5 draft in December and flipped to the Reds in January. He failed to earn a roster spot in Cincinnati and will now be back with the club that drafted him. Holder will serve as organizational depth, but he won't likely be one of the team's top call-ups in the event of an injury, as he isn't on the 40-man roster.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Kyle Holder: Traded to Cincinnati
Holder was traded from the Phillies to the Reds on Saturday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Holder, a first-round pick by the Yankees in 2015, was selected by Philadelphia in the Rule 5 draft last month. The 26-year-old has yet to play above Double-A, but he should have a better path toward major-league playing time in Cincinnati, especially after the Phillies re-signed Didi Gregorius on Saturday. If the Reds don't acquire a veteran shortstop ahead of the 2021 season, Holder could compete for the starting job in the big leagues during spring training.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Kyle Holder: Popped by Phillies
The Phillies selected Holder with the 11th pick of the Rule 5 draft. A first-round pick by the Yankees in 2015, Holder is now 26 and has not played above Double-A. The infielder hit .265/.336/.405 with nine home runs and seven steals in 472 plate appearances at Double-A in 2019. He is a glove-first shortstop who will likely work as a defensive replacement in 2021 if the Phillies roster him for the entire season.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Kyle Holder: Optioned to alternate camp
Holder (hip/stomach) was assigned to the Yankees' alternate training site Saturday. Holder's reassignment came on the same day that he underwent a series of tests due to discomfort in his hip and stomach area. The 26-year-old was not expected to make the Yankees' initial 30-man active roster, though a callup this year is not out of the question if he's able to overcome the injury concern.... See More ... Yankees' Kyle Holder: Sent for tests
Holder underwent a series of tests Saturday after experiencing discomfort in his left hip and stomach area, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. The severity of the issue should become clear once the results of the tests are known. Even if healthy, Holder is unlikely to fill a significant role for the Yankees this season, as he's not on the team's 40-man roster and has yet to reach Triple-A.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Kyle Holder: Invited to summer camp
Holder claimed a spot on the Yankees' 60-man player pool. Holder is not on the team's 40-man roster, but he has spent five years in the organization and could be close to making his big-league debut, especially given the team's lack of depth in the middle infield. The Yankees' recent signing of Matt Duffy does set back that possibility a bit, however.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Kyle Holder: Headed to minor-league camp
Holder was reassigned to minor-league camp Monday. Holder had a solid showing at the Yankees' spring training. He appeared in 10 games and went 8-for-17 (.471) with three doubles and three RBI. Holder played 104 games at High-A Tampa in 2017, over which he hit .271/.317/.350. He'll likely open the year with Tampa or at Double-A Trenton.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Kyle Holder: Back on the field for Low-A squad
Holder (undisclosed) played in both ends of a doubleheader with Low-A Charleston on Monday. Holder missed two weeks of action in April with an undisclosed setback, but the two starts Monday indicate he is in the clear moving forward. Holder, the Yankees' first-round pick last year, owns a .268/.286/.317 slash line through 11 games this season with Charleston.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Kyle Holder: Placed on 7-day DL Monday
Holder was placed on the 7-day disabled list Monday for an unspecified reason. It's unclear what the injury is or when it happened, but Holder will head to the DL to make room on the High-A roster for Drew Bridges. His status should become clear in the coming days.... See More ... See Less
