  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: Won't play in Game 3

D'Astous (undisclosed) won't play in Friday's Game 3 against the Canadiens, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports. D'Astous exited Sunday's Game 1 against Montreal and was unavailable for Game 2 on Tuesday. Although he traveled with the team ahead of Game 3, he remained on the ice following Friday's morning skate, indicating that he'll miss a second consecutive matchup. His next opportunity to suit up will be in Game 4 on Sunday, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to do so.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: Traveling with team

D'Astous (undisclosed) will join the Lightning on the road for Game 3 against the Canadiens on Friday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports. D'Astous is far from a lock to play in Game 3, but the fact that he is going to be on the trip with the team bodes well for a short-term absence. If the 28-year-old Quebec native does get back into the lineup, it figures to come at the expense of Declan Carlile, who will likely return to the press box as a healthy scratch.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: Doubtful for Tuesday

D'Astous (undisclosed) is doubtful for Game 2 against Montreal on Tuesday, according to Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times. D'Astous was absent from Monday's practice after being injured in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canadiens in Game 1. Based on Monday's session, Declan Carlile appears poised to replace D'Astous in Tuesday's lineup, but Max Crozier is also available.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: Eight points in last seven games

D'Astous scored a goal Saturday in a 3-1 win over Boston. D'Astous buried his own rebound from a sharp angle on the left side early in the third period. He has eight points (two goals, six assists) over his past seven games; he was held off the scoresheet just once in that span. D'Astous is a great daily play right now. He's one point from 30 points in his first NHL season.

D'Astous had two assists in a 4-3 overtime win over Seattle on Thursday. D'Astous has 24 points, including 20 assists, in 59 games this season. Four of those helpers have come in the last five games. D'Astous has 84 hits, 80 PIM, 65 blocks and 64 shots overall.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: First goal in 30 games

D'Astous scored a goal in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Carolina. The depth defender crashed the net and finished a 2-on-1 rush with Brayden Point in the second period to tie the game at 2-2. D'Astous hadn't scored a goal since Dec. 9 against Montreal. He has 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 53 games this season, but he has just seven points (one goal, six assists) in his last 21 appearances. D'Astous has added 78 PIM, 73 hits and 59 blocks while occupying a third-pairing role.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: Supplies pair of helpers in win

D'Astous registered two assists in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs. D'Astous picked up both of his helpers in the second period, where he slid the primary pass on Brayden Point's goal before adding a secondary helper on Gage Goncalves' tally. With the pair of apples, D'Astous is up to 16 assists, 19 points, 52 shots on goal, 54 hits and 45 blocked shots across 44 games this season. Wednesday's two-point performance was the 27-year-old's second of the calendar year and raised his point total to 10 over his last 17 games. With a role on the team's second power-play unit, the rookie blueliner is becoming a low-end fantasy option to roster in deep leagues due to his solid category coverage.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: Offensive reliability increasing

D'Astous put up two assists in a 7-2 win over the Flyers on Saturday. D'Astous has been quite reliable offensively of late, putting up seven assists in his last nine games. He doesn't fire a lot of shots (42), but he has managed 16 points, including 13 assists, in 35 games this season. D'Astous is a great story -- he's a 27-year-old journeyman who made his NHL debut this season after a path that took him from the QMJHL through the ECHL and AHL to Finland and Sweden before he arrived back in North America this season. D'Astous has always put up points wherever he's played, too, so he could be a streaming option when he's rolling like he is right now.

D'Astous has gone 10 games without finding the back of the net, registering four assists, 12 shots and 13 hits along the way. Still, it's been a strong rookie campaign for the 27-year-old blueliner, generating three goals and 10 helpers, including two with the man advantage, in his 33 contests this year.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: Buries goal in win

D'Astous scored a goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Flames. D'Astous' tally at 1:26 of the first period stood as the game-winner. The 27-year-old blueliner has emerged as a reliable player in his own zone as well as a power-play option on the second unit in his first NHL campaign. For the year, he has two goals, seven points, 13 shots on net, 15 PIM, 20 hits, 17 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating in 16 appearances. He's earned two of his points over the last three games.

  • Lightning's Charle-Edouard D'Astous: First career multi-point game

D'Astous notched two assists and three hits in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Capitals. D'Astous eared his first multi-point effort by helping out on goals by Emil Lilleberg and Brandon Hagel. The 27-year-old D'Astous also logged a season-high 19:37 of ice time, filling the void created when Ryan McDonagh (undisclosed) left the game early. D'Astous is the latest diamond in the rough uncovered by the Lightning, and he's stepped into a regular bottom-four role. The blueliner has five points, eight shots on net, 11 hits, four blocked shots, nine PIM and a plus-1 rating over his first eight NHL appearances.
