  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Done for season

Vladar will miss the rest of the season as he will have hip surgery next week, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Vladar struggled in his final two starts of the season, allowing 13 goals on 75 shots in losses to Colorado and Carolina. He finishes the season with an 8-9-2 mark. Vladar has one more season remaining on his contract, but he could be the odd man out if Jacob Markstrom returns, as Dustin Wolf is seemingly ready to play at the NHL level.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Pulled after two periods

Vladar allowed six goals on 35 shots in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Avalanche. Vladar played the first two periods, but he was relieved by Dustin Wolf after a five-goal middle frame. With 13 goals allowed on 75 shots over his last two outings, Vladar is seeing firsthand how diminished the Flames' defense is following the trade deadline. The 26-year-old dropped to 8-9-2 with a 3.61 GAA and an .882 save percentage through 20 appearances this season. If Jacob Markstrom (lower body) is out for a while, Vladar would likely share the crease with Dustin Wolf, who stopped all three shots he faced in the third period Tuesday.

Vladar will protect the home goal versus the Avalanche on Tuesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Vladar will get the start after Jacob Markstrom (lower body) was ruled out for Tuesday. Vladar allowed seven goals on 40 shots in a loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday, and he'll have another tough challenge on hand against an Avalanche team that has scored 25 goals over the last six games.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Starting in Carolina

Vladar will guard the road goal Sunday against the Hurricanes, per Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer. During his last outing, Vladar stopped 32 shots in a 6-3 win over Edmonton on Feb. 24. He has posted a record of 8-7-2 this season with a 3.21 GAA and an .890 save percentage through 18 games played. Carolina is tied for 11th in the league with 3.30 goals per contest this campaign.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Wins Battle of Alberta

Vladar stopped 32 of 35 shots in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Oilers. Vladar picked up his first win since Jan. 16 in a solid showing against the Flames' biggest rivals. The 26-year-old gave up a pair of goals to Zach Hyman and one more tally to Mattias Janmark in garbage time. The win lifted Vladar to 8-7-2 with a 3.21 GAA and an .890 save percentage through 18 appearances. Jacob Markstrom has been pretty good lately, but he wasn't 100 percent Saturday and has historically struggled versus the Oilers, which makes head coach Ryan Huska's decision to go with Vladar look wise. The Flames host the Kings on Tuesday.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: First off Saturday

Vladar will guard the road net Saturday against the Oilers, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. It'll be the first start since Jan. 20 for Vladar, who's 7-7-2 with an .888 save percentage and 3.22 GAA while backing up Jacob Markstrom this season. Vladar will have a tough task against an Edmonton team averaging 3.56 goals per game.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Activated off IR

Vladar (lower body) was activated off injured reserve Friday. Vladar has missed the last eight games with his lower-body issue, but he could be back between the pipes as soon as Saturday versus Detroit or Monday against the Jets. Jacob Markstrom's name has begun to circle in trade rumors, and if he's dealt by the March 8 trade deadline, Vladar should see a major uptick in playing time down the stretch. Vladar's gone 7-7-2 while posting a 3.27 GAA and an .888 save percentage through 16 appearances this season.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Loses close game

Vladar allowed two goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Edmonton. The only reason that the game was just 1-0 after the first period was because of the heroics of Vladar. He absolutely robbed Connor Brown with a glove save on a 2-on-1 and added another 11 saves in the frame to give his team a chance. Vladar was beat on a Ryan McLeod breakaway that he had little chance on to open the scoring. Unfortunately, early in the third period with the game tied up 1-1, Vladar allowed a fluky goal that was shot from behind the net, bounced off teammate Rasmus Andersson's stick and floated behind him. That was the game-winner and Zach Hyman's empty-net goal sealed the win for Edmonton. Vladar has allowed at least two goals in nine straight outings.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Gets third straight start

Vladar will defend the home net versus Edmonton on Saturday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Vladar started the last two games due to the absence of Jacob Markstrom (lower body). Markstrom is close to a return, but Dustin Wolf will back up Vladar on Saturday. Vladar has a 7-6-2 record, a 3.35 GAA and an .885 save percentage. He has a tough matchup against the red-hot Oilers. Edmonton has won 12 consecutive contests going into Saturday's action.

In Vladar's last four starts he has two wins, has allowed 13 goals and managed an .882 save percentage.

Overall, Vladar is 6-4-2 with an .888 save percentage and 3.36 GAA this season. He'll face an injury-depleted Chicago team that's scored just two goals in its last three games.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Making Thursday's start

Vladar will protect the road goal versus the Predators on Thursday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Vladar hasn't played since Dec. 16 -- Jacob Markstrom took over the No. 1 job in goal after returning from a broken finger. Vladar went 1-2-1 with 13 goals allowed over four games in December. The Predators have scored 17 times over their last six contests, making this a favorable matchup for Vladar to get back in a groove.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Strong in win over Bolts

Vladar stopped 31 of 33 shots in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Lightning. Vladar snapped his three-game losing streak with a solid win over a tough opponent. The pair of goals he allowed came in a span of 1:30 early in the third period, but Vladar was able to guide the Flames to a win. The 26-year-old is now 5-4-2 with a 3.40 GAA and an .886 save percentage through 11 outings. He hasn't done much to lay claim to a larger role once Jacob Markstrom (finger) returns, which could be as soon as Monday versus the Panthers.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Plays big game but loses in SO

Vladar made 30 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to Minnesota on Thursday. This loss was not on Vladar -- he played his heart out. He allowed a goal to Matt Boldy early in the first period and then a power-play snipe at 13:18 of the second. Other than that, Vladar bricked up the twine tent. This performance was a great rebound for him after a six-goal game in Colorado on Monday. The Flames have struggled lately, so it's tough to put any of their netminders into your blue paint as a fantasy manager.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Squanders lead

Vladar allowed six goals on 37 shots in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Avalanche. Vladar played well early in the game, helping the Flames build a 5-3 lead through two periods. A stretch of three goals in 4:10 by the Avalanche in the third flipped the game around, sending Vladar to his third loss in his last four appearances. This is the second time in nine games he's given up a half-dozen goals. For the season, the 26-year-old has a 4-4-1 record with a 3.76 GAA and an .871 save percentage through nine starts. Dustin Wolf will likely start Tuesday in Vegas, and if he performs well, Vladar could be set for a stint as the backup soon.

Vladar was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports, indicating he will guard the road goal Monday against the Avalanche. During his last outing, Vladar was pulled in a 5-2 loss to Minnesota on Dec. 5 after allowing three goals on 16 shots. • Flames' Dan Vladar: Pulled in second period

Vladar allowed three goals on 16 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Wild. Vladar kept the deficit to one goal through the first period, but he gave up a pair of early tallies in the second before receiving the hook. Dustin Wolf stopped 11 of 13 shots in relief. Both Vladar and Wolf have a chance to compete for the No. 1 spot in goal with Jacob Markstrom (finger) deemed week-to-week after getting hurt in Monday's practice. Vladar is at a 4-3-1 record with a 3.45 GAA and an .877 save percentage through eight games, so he'll need to turn things around quickly to avoid getting passed by the rookie Wolf on the depth chart. The Flames host the Hurricanes on Thursday.

  • Flames' Dan Vladar: Steps up in surprise start

Vladar saved 27 of 28 shots in Monday's 2-1 overtime win over the Golden Knights. Vladar was initially expected to be the backup until Jacob Markstrom (illness) was ruled out shortly before the game. On short notice, Vladar provided excellent work, giving up just a William Karlsson power-play tally in the first period. The 26-year-old Vladar is now at 4-2-1 with a 3.20 GAA and an .883 save percentage through seven outings this season. If Markstrom remains under the weather Thursday, Vladar could start again in a tough home matchup against the Stars.
