  • Capitals' Tom Wilson: Dishes two helpers Thursday

Wilson tallied two assists and added three hits and two blocked shots during Thursday's 5-3 win over the Lightning. This was Wilson's first multi-point game since Dec. 14 -- the burly winger has been scuffling since suffering a broken nose in January with just one goal and four points in his last 16 games. With injuries mounting in their forward ranks, the Capitals will need Wilson to become a more consistent offensive producer as the 2023-24 season enters the home stretch.

  • Capitals' Tom Wilson: Looking to play Saturday

Wilson (face) is hoping to suit up against the Rangers on Saturday, Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network reports. Wilson has been practicing with a full shield after suffering a facial injury against the Kings on Sunday. The winger was considered a game-time call against Seattle on Thursday but was ultimately ruled out of that contest. If Wilson does play Saturday, he should slot into a top-six role, which could drop Hendrix Lapierre from the lineup entirely.

Wilson (face) won't play versus the Kraken on Thursday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Wilson was considered a game-time decision but can't play. Wilson scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers. Thursday's goal was his 10th of the season, putting him on pace for the first 30-goal campaign of his career.

  • Capitals' Tom Wilson: Goal scorer's goal in win

Wilson scored a goal Saturday in a 4-0 win over the Rangers. He has registered five goals and six points in his past five outings. What was most impressive is that Wilson stole the puck, sped down the ice and called off Alex Ovechkin on a 2-on-1 to rip the puck over Igor Shesterkin's glove. You'd think he was the greatest goal scorer in the league. Wilson had just one shot Saturday, but he has been ripping pucks at a record pace this season. If he can stay healthy, Wilson could top 225 shots and score 30 goals, while racking up plenty of hits. That kind of fantasy impact is almost unheard of in today's NHL and that's why it's so valuable.

  • Capitals' Tom Wilson: Hat trick in 700th career game

Wilson recorded a hat trick on seven shots and added four PIM in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Ducks. Wilson celebrated his 700th career game in style with his first career hat trick. Two of his goals in the contest came on the power play. While he was limited to five tallies and two assists over 12 contests in November, this effort was an encouraging sign for Wilson's offense going forward. The power winger has seven goals, 12 points, 60 shots on net, 57 hits, 43 PIM and a minus-4 rating through 20 outings this season.

Wilson has a point in five of his last six games (three goals, two assists) and 20 shots in that span. Remarkably, he's tied with Dylan Strome for third in team scoring (six points), and he's ahead of Evgeny Kuznetsov, who has five. The Caps are a low-scoring team, but Wilson will get lots of looks as the top-line right winger beside Dylan Strome and Alex Ovechkin.

  • Capitals' Tom Wilson: Pots game-winner

Wilson tallied a goal, a plus-2 rating, five shots and seven hits during Sunday's 3-1 win over the Sharks. Wilson's go-ahead goal was the 300th point of his NHL career and powered the Capitals to their third consecutive win. The physical winger has meshed well with Alex Ovechkin and Dylan Strome on the top line, posting two goals and five points in his last six games. Wilson is re-establishing himself as a multi-category contributor after spending most of the 2022-23 season working back from knee surgery.

Wilson recorded an assist, two hits and two blocked shots in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Devils. Wilson has picked up an assist in three of his last four games. Wednesday also marked the first time this season he's avoided a trip to the penalty box. The rough-and-tumble winger is up to three points, 10 shots on net, 18 hits, five blocked shots, 22 PIM and a minus-2 rating through six outings. Head coach Spencer Carbery is still trying to find the most effective line combinations, but Wilson should remain in a top-six role with power-play time throughout the season.
