  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Bumps down the depth chart

With the Panthers' selection of Xavier Legette with the No. 32 overall pick Thursday night, Mingo is pushed down the wide receiver depth chart, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

Carolina has made it a point to upgrade its wideout room this offseason, first trading for Diontae Johnson before then trading up into the final pick of the first round for Legette. Adding those two to veteran slot man Adam Thielen pushes both Mingo and Terrace Marshall down in the pecking order for targets. Mingo -- who is bouncing back from a late-season foot issue -- started 14 of 15 games he appeared in as a rookie, but he posted an uninspiring 43-418-0 receiving line on 85 targets. He was one of the least productive starting receivers in the league in 2023.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Moves to IR, ending his season

The Panthers placed Mingo on injured reserve Tuesday due to a foot injury, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Mingo sat out Week 4 with a concussion, but he otherwise played in each of the Panthers' other 15 games, compiling a 43-418-0 line on 85 targets. The rookie second-round pick wasn't able to develop a consistent rapport with 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young, and the duo will have to wait until the offseason program begins to continue developing their chemistry.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: No yards Sunday

Mingo caught two of three targets but totaled zero yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Jaguars.

Mingo has now gone for under 10 yards in consecutive games. That dry spell hurts his stock ahead of Sunday's season finale versus the Buccaneers, but the rookie did manage a career-best six catches for 69 yards against Tampa Bay earlier in the campaign.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Targeted once in loss

Mingo secured his only target for a nine-yard reception in Sunday's 33-30 loss to the Packers.

One week after leading the Panthers in receptions in a win over the Falcons, Mingo saw little involvement even while quarterback Bryce Young attempted 36 passes and threw for a career-high 312 yards. Mingo did, however, lead Carolina wide receivers in offensive snap share, taking the field for 92 percent of the Panthers' plays. In 14 appearances this season, Mingo has yet to find the end zone while recording 41 catches for 418 yards on 82 targets.
