Colts' Tyler Goodson: Disappointing end to season
Goodson did not handle a carry in Saturday's 23-19 loss versus the Texans, and he failed to bring in either of his two targets.
The last meaningful play of a must-win game for Indianapolis was a dropped pass by Goodson that would have extended a potential game-winning drive with just over a minute to play. It's a difficult pill to swallow for Goodson, who had an otherwise promising season in 2023 relative to his rookie year in 2022. He has enough speed to get a second look during the offseason.

Colts' Tyler Goodson: Just one carry in win
Goodson had one carry for three yards in Sunday's win over the Raiders.
Goodson payed just three snaps on offense as the Colts had a large lead most of the game and didn't need a pass catcher to relieve Jonathan Taylor. Instead, Trey Sermon played 18 snaps and had five carries for 32 yards mostly late in the game when Taylor was briefly sidelined.

Colts' Tyler Goodson: Records 30 total yards in loss
Goodson had one carry for 15 yards and one reception for 15 yards on two targets in Sunday's 29-10 loss to Atlanta.
Both Goodson and Trey Sermon played 14 snaps on offense in reserve roled behind Jonathan Taylor (thumb), who made his return from a three-game absence. Goodson took on more opportunities than Sermon, who had two carries, but Goodson's role may have been enhanced by the fact that the Colts were trailing for much of the second half and went into a pass-happy game script. Zack Moss (forearm) missed Sunday's game and will slot back in as the top complement behind Taylor if he's able to play Week 17 versus the Raiders, so both Goodson and Sermon could soon be in danger of falling out of the backfield rotation.

Colts' Tyler Goodson: Signed off practice squad
The Colts signed Goodson off their practice squad Tuesday.
Having used the maximum three standard elevations on Goodson ahead of the last three contests, Indianapolis needed to add him to the active roster in order for him to be available for game days moving forward. With the status of both Jonathan Taylor (thumb) and Zack Moss (shoulder) up in the air as the team prepares for Sunday's visit to Atlanta, Goodson could see a significant role in the backfield along with Trey Sermon. After Moss went down in the second quarter of this past Saturday's win against the Steelers, Goodson turned 13 touches into 79 yards from scrimmage as he split work with Sermon (17 carries, 88 yards).

Colts' Tyler Goodson: Moves back to practice squad
Goodson reverted to the Colts' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Goodson has been elevated for each of Indianapolis' last three games, but he was able to mix into the offense more than expected Saturday against the Steelers after Zack Moss departed early due to a shoulder injury. With Jonathan Taylor (thumb) sitting out again, Goodson and Trey Sermon manned the backfield from the middle of the second quarter onward. Goodson played second fiddle to Sermon, seeing 19 snaps to the latter's 29, but both RBs got double-digit touches, with Goodson going for 79 yards from scrimmage on 13 touches and Sermon turning 17 carries into 88 yards. There's a chance Taylor will be able to return Sunday in Atlanta, and Moss also hopes to be available for that contest, so Goodson's prospects for Week 16 output likely are contingent on him being signed to the active roster.

Colts' Tyler Goodson: Gets 13 touches Saturday
Goodson totaled 11 carries for 69 yards and two catches (on two targets) for 10 yards during Saturday's 30-13 victory against the Steelers.
Goodson joined the Colts' practice squad after Week 1, and he remained there until Week 12, when the team elevated him. He's proceeded to see action in three straight games via the same transaction due to Jonathan Taylor (thumb) being out the last two contests, and Goodson worked in tandem with Trey Sermon out of Indy's backfield Saturday after Zack Moss (arm) exited early in the second quarter. Taylor may be able to return next Sunday, Dec. 24 in Atlanta, but with the statuses of both him and Moss now up in the air, Goodson could be a regular in the offense in the short term. However, because he's exhausted his three allotted elevations, the Colts will need to sign Goodson to the active roster in order for him to do so.
