Broncos' Caden Sterns: Still not close to healthy
Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Sterns (knee), who's on the active/PUP list, still needs some time to regain full health, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
Sterns suffered a torn patellar tendon in his knee last Week 1 and missed virtually all of the 2023 season. Ruptured patellar tendons are notoriously one of the toughest injuries to overcome in football. The Broncos signed veteran safety Brandon Jones in free agency and also have P.J. Locke as an experienced option on the back end should Sterns not be ready for the 2024 opener.

Broncos' Caden Sterns: Opening camp on PUP list
Sterns (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Sterns missed nearly the entire 2023 season while recovering from a torn left patellar tendon he suffered in Week 1, and he appears to be not quite 100 percent heading into training camp Tuesday. Once he's healthy, the 24-year-old looks set to be Denver's starting strong safety in 2024, and while he's on the PUP list, he'll be eligible to return to practice and play at any point in the preseason.

Sterns suffered a torn patellar tendon in the season opener against the Raiders. The safety will be eligible to return from injured reserve after four weeks, but Sterns' injury is likely to be season-ending.

Sterns is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn patellar tendon during a 17-16 loss to the Raiders on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Sterns needed to be carted off the field after suffering the injury and was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the contest. Entering his third season, the Texas product was expected to play a more significant role in 2023. His absence could lead to increased roles for Delarrin Turner-Yell and JL Skinner at safety.

Sterns was carted off the field Sunday and won't return due to a knee injury, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
It's never a good sign when a player is immediately ruled out after being carted off, but the severity of the injury remains unclear. Delarrin Turner-Yell is the only healthy safety remaining behind Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons.

Broncos' Caden Sterns: Back for OTAs
Sterns (hip), who is bouncing back from injury, is holding his own throughout Broncos' OTAs, Chad Jensen of Sports Illustrated reports.
Sterns missed the final 12 games of the 2022 NFL season with the injury but has since had the offseason to move past the issue. He's been touted by All-Pro teammate, Justin Simmons, who told reporters that "Caden has looked really good... He's been taking care of his body really well." Sterns (hip) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Sterns has been out since injuring his hip in Week 5, and his absence will now extend for at least four additional four. He had played nearly all of Denver's defensive snaps prior to going down and tallied 21 total tackles, four passes defended and two interceptions across five contests.

Sterns made three tackles while intercepting two passes and deflecting three others in Thursday's 12-9 overtime loss to the Colts.
Sterns was able to pick off Matt Ryan in the second quarter before doing it again in the following period, notching his first two interceptions of the campaign. In addition, he was able to swat a season-high three passes in the contest. With Justin Simmons (quadriceps) unavailable, Sterns has produced 21 tackles with two interceptions and four pass deflections over five games this season.
