Giants' Bobby Okereke: Shines in first season in New York
Okereke tallied 149 tackles (92 solo), including 2.5 sacks, along with two interceptions and four forced fumbles over 17 games during the 2023 season.
Okereke came over to the Giants after four campaigns with the Colts and made a big impact, leading the team in tackles, with his 149 the ninth most in the NFL and two shy of his career-high mark. He was also disruptive in the passing game, tying for second among linebackers in the league with 10 pass defenses, including a pair of picks, while registering a career high in sacks. Okereke is under contract through 2026 and should again be a strong IDP option as a tackling machine next season.

Okereke led the Giants in stops Sunday, recording his eighth double-digit tackle effort of the season. He also tallied 1.5 sacks after coming into the contest with no sacks since 2021. Getting to the quarterback isn't a frequent part of his role, but Okereke has been a standout IDP option throughout his first season in New York, and he needs nine tackles in the team's regular-season finale to match his career-best mark of 151.

Giants' Bobby Okereke: Records 10 stops in Week 16 loss
Okereke finished Monday's loss to the Eagles with 10 tackles (eight solo) and a deflected pass.
Okereke has been excellent in his first season with the Giants, though his tackle output had been on the decline prior to Monday, and he posted a season-low three stops Week 15 versus Indianapolis. The fifth-year linebacker bounced back with 10 tackles against Philadelphia, tying for the team lead and marking his seventh double-digit tackle effort of the campaign. Okereke ranks 10th in the NFL with 132 stops on the season, and he has a chance of reaching his career-best mark of 151 tackles, which he set last year with the Colts.

Giants' Bobby Okereke: Pushes past injury in big effort
Okereke notched eight tackles (seven solo) and picked off a pass against New England in Sunday's Week 12 10-7 win.
Okereke suffered a partial rib fracture and a dislocated pinky finger against Washington last week, but he entered Sunday's contest without an injury designation following a DNP/LP/LP practice progression during Week 12 prep. The veteran linebacker met his usual level of excellence despite the injuries, finishing in a tie for second on the Giants in stops and picking off his second pass of the year. Given the eventual winning margin of just three points, Okereke's interception in the second quarter was a game-changer, as it came with the Patriots driving deep into New York territory. Okereke returned the pick 55 yards to New England's 26 yard line, and the Giants scored their only touchdown of the contest six plays later. Okereke will get some much-earned rest and a chance to further heal from the rib and finger issues with New York on bye Week 13.

Okereke (hip) carries no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reported Friday that Okereke is dealing with a partial rib fracture as well as a dislocated pinky finger he sustained against the Commanders in Week 11. Okereke missed Wednesday's practice while dealing with his injuries, but he logged a limited session both Thursday and Friday and is set to suit up Sunday. He had a season-high 14 tackles against Washington and has played every single defensive snap for the Giants this season.

After being listed as a non-participant Wednesday, Okereke appears to be trending in the right direction. He underwent X-rays following Sunday's win at Washington, but he appears to have avoided anything serious. More clarity on his status for Week 12 will come following Friday's final injury report.

Okereke battled a hip issue during practice this week but was cleared to play coming into the weekend. The talented linebacker showed no ill effects from the injury, posting a season-high 14 stops to lead New York. Okereke also forced two fumbles, one of which was recovered by the Giants as Washington was driving down the field late in the third quarter.
