Lano Hill: Cut by Carolina
Hill was released by the Panthers on Wednesday, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The safety played in only two games for the Seahawks last season, recording 10 tackles before a back injury ended his season. He never really got a chance to prove himself with Panthers, as a COVID-19 designation forced him out practice right when training camp began. Carolina activated Hill from the reserve/COVID-19 list before cutting him, though, so he enters free agency with a clean bill of health.

Panthers' Delano Hill: Moved to COVID-19 list
The Panthers placed Hill on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
Hill appeared in two games for the Seahawks last season, tallying 10 tackles before going down with a back injury. The fifth-year safety also resides on the PUP list, so he'll need to recover from the physical concern in addition to clearing COVID-19 protocols before getting the green light to practice with Carolina.

Seahawks' Lano Hill: Out for SNF
Hill (back) has been ruled out for the Seahawks' Sunday night matchup against the Vikings.
The 24-year-old safety fielded 85 percent of the defensive workload during Seattle's Week 2 win over the Patriots, but he's been beleaguered by a back injury since that point and unable to return to game action. Hill's absence becomes even more impactful for Sunday night because Jamal Adams (groin) has also been ruled out for the matchup against the Vikings. Seattle is the NFL's 32nd-ranked pass defense -- with nearly 60 more passing yards allowed per game than any other team (401). The unit is expected to have Ryan Neal in place as its starting free safety against Minnesota, with Adams and Hill inactive.

Hill was inactive for Week 3's win over the Cowboys due to a back issue, and it's still bothering him to start the practice week. With Jamal Adams (groin) trending in the wrong direction ahead of Sunday's game versus the Dolphins, if Hill can shake off the injury, he'll likely start at strong safety.

Seahawks' Lano Hill: Dealing with back issue
Coach Pete Carroll said after Sunday's win over the Cowboys that Hill is nursing a back issue, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Carroll specifically noted that Hill, who was inactive Sunday, woke up with a back injury. The fourth-year pro played 85 percent of snaps in Week 2, and Jamal Adams (groin) was forced out versus the Cowboys due to an injury, so Hill could have an opportunity to handle significant defensive snaps Week 4 if he's able to get healthy.

Seahawks' Delano Hill: Makes four starts in 2019
Hill recorded 25 tackles over 12 regular-season appearances in 2019.
During his third professional season, Hill started four games due to injuries to other playesr in the secondary. However, he logged double-digit defensive snaps in just two of the other eight games in which he didn't start. The main reason for his limited usage was the Seahawks' pickup of Quandre Diggs via trade, but it's a positive sign that Hill started over Marquise Blair during the final three weeks of the season while Diggs was hurt. Diggs and Bradley McDougald are in line to serve as Seattle's safety tandem in 2020, so Hill will compete with Blair and Tedric Thompson (shoulder) for reserve reps next year.

Seahawks' Delano Hill: Expected starter Sunday
Hill is expected to start at free safety if Quandre Diggs' (ankle) can't play Sunday against the Cardinals, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
When Diggs left Week 15's win over the Panthers with a high-ankle sprain, Hill took over at free safety, playing 43 defensive snaps and recording five tackles. Hill started two games this year already, and while he's less rangy than Diggs, the 2017 third-round pick is a worthy placeholder.
