Coach Dan Campbell said Monday he doesn't expect Vaitai (knee) to go on injured reserve, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports.
After he was helped off the field with a knee injury during Sunday's 37-31 overtime loss versus Seattle, Campbell's comments represent good news for Vaitai. Whether he'll be available for Week 3 is still very much in question though, and if he misses more time, veteran Graham Glasgow should continue to fill in at right guard.

Vaitai has been dealing with a back injury that held him out of the 2022 season but has since had time to move past the issue. The veteran guard also still seems to hold a starting spot on the offensive line after Evan Brown, who filled in for him last season, signed with Seattle this offseason.

Campbell said it started bothering Vaitai during the preseason finale against Pittsburgh, but the offensive lineman wasn't placed on injured reserve until Monday. While Vaitai will be forced to sit out at least four games, Campbell relays that there's no timetable for his return, though surgery isn't expected, per Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com. In Vaitai's absence, Tommy Kraemer and Drew Forbes will compete for the starting right guard spot to start 2022.
