Cadet will work out with the Saints on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Cadet suited up for one game with the Panthers in 2018, but has not seen any other action since. The 30-year-old journeyman has played with six different teams since 2012, including two separate stints with the Saints. With Alvin Kamara (ankle) questionable for Week 7, it looks like New Orleans is looking for potential depth options at running back.

Panthers' Travaris Cadet: Suits up once in 2018
Cadet recorded 17 yards on 11 rushes and five yards on one reception while only appearing in one game in 2018.
Cadet signed with the Panthers in the second half of the season but didn't play until Week 17, when the team was out of the playoff hunt. His 1.5 yards per carry made for an unimpressive performance overall. Cadet turns 30 next month and isn't likely to see anything more than a depth or special-teams role in 2019.

Offensive coordinator Norv Turner said Thursday that he assumes Cadet will be inactive for Sunday's game against Detroit, Bryan Strickland of the Panthers' official site reports.
Cadet signed a one-year contract with the Panthers on Monday after the team decided to waive fellow running back C.J. Anderson. As evidenced by this news, Cadet might need some time to learn the playbook before he suits up in game action. If Cadet doesn't suit up Sunday, Cameron Artis-Payne will be in line for the reserve role behind bell-cow back Christian McCaffrey.

Cadet was in good standing for much of the summer, but Marcus Murphy had a great preseason and leapfrogged all the fringe running backs, leaving the Bills to choose Taiwan Jones over Cadet for the last spot. Cadet's a versatile player so we'd be surprised if he didn't end up with another team, with the Bills being a possibility as well if injuries strike.

Bills' Travaris Cadet: Battling for roster spot
Cadet rushed six times for 73 yards -- including a 44-yard run -- and caught one of five targets for seven yards during Thursday's preseason game against Chicago.
A surging Marcus Murphy didn't play in the game, leading most to believe he's a lock for a roster spot along with LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory. That would leave Cadet in a battle with Taiwan Jones for a final spot if the Bills keep four running backs to go with fullback Patrick DiMarco. Cadet probably offers more than Jones offensively and perhaps helped his case Thursday, but the latter is a better special teams player. There's a good chance one of the two is no longer a Bill come Saturday.

Bills' Travaris Cadet: Getting return work
Cadet (ankle) and Taiwan Jones were the only Buffalo players to return kickoffs during minicamp, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.
Cadet dislocated his right ankle Dec. 24, but he recovered faster than expected and re-signed with the Bills in mid-March. While the team added Chris Ivory to serve as LeSean McCoy's top backup in 2018, Cadet's pass-catching ability and return-game contributions could earn him a spot on the 53-man roster. He'll compete with Jones, Marcus Murphy and undrafted rookie Keith Ford for what likely will be two spots.

Travaris Cadet: Re-signs with Bills
Cadet (ankle) is re-signing with the Bills.
Per ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, Cadet is recovering from the dislocated ankle he suffered on Christmas Eve faster than expected, and is already back to running at full speed. He'll likely still be limited at the offseason program, but it sounds as if he could reach full strength before training camp. Cadet will compete for a depth spot in a backfield that recently added Chris Ivory, potentially spelling LeSean McCoy on some passing downs. Cadet had 22 carries for 93 yards and 13 receptions for 93 yards on 16 targets in six games with the Bills last season.

Bills' Travaris Cadet: Facing three-month recovery timetable
Cadet suffered a dislocated right ankle in Sunday's 37-16 loss to the Patriots and will undergo a season-ending procedure Wednesday to reset the ankle, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Cadet is expected to make a full recovery in 12 weeks, putting him on track to enter the offseason program healthy. The loss of Cadet, who has produced 186 total yards in six games with Buffalo this season, leaves Mike Tolbert as the top backup to LeSean McCoy.

Teammate Mike Tolbert was a healthy scratch, leaving Cadet as the No. 2 behind bell-cow back LeSean McCoy. The starter was down for a few minutes after one carry; had that transpired into something worse, Cadet would have instantly become the main ball carrier for the Bills, at least for the rest of this contest. However, McCoy remains surprisingly durable given his 29-year-old body and the 10,000-plus yards of NFL tread on his tires, while the season is running out of time for insurance backs like Cadet to have any value.

Cadet, cleared from a concussion last week, played in Sunday's 13-7 win over the Colts, carrying the ball four times for just two yards while not getting targeted in the passing game.
Cadet was on the field for just four offensive plays, while Mike Tolbert, who had missed the last three games with a hamstring injury, saw 13 offensive plays and turned that into six carries for 32 yards. Cadet has provided some nice depth and versatility to the Buffalo offense since his midseason signing, but it looks like he'll settle into the No. 3 spot in the pecking order now that Tolbert's healthy again.

Cadet made it through the concussion protocol quickly, progressing from non-participation Wednesday to limited participation Thursday before closing out the week with a full practice. He caught 12 passes over the past three games, but there may be a bit less backup work available with Mike Tolbert (hamstring) cleared to return.

Cadet cleared the NFL's concussion protocol Friday, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.
Cadet missed practice Wednesday after beginning the week in the protocol, but he was able to get in a limited session Thursday, and it appears he will be able to get in at least the same level of participation at the Bills' final practice of the week. Regardless of how much he's able to do Friday, Cadet is expected to play in Week 14. He will work in a reserve role behind LeSean McCoy if he plays, but with fellow running back Mike Tolbert on track to return to action, he could see a decline in usage after Cadet averaged 8.3 touches over the last three games.

It's unclear if Cadet will be a limited or full participant in the session, but his return to practice in any capacity Thursday means he's reached the fourth stage of the NFL's concussion protocol. Cadet will still need to receive clearance from an independent neurologist before getting the green light for Sunday's game against the Colts, but things seem to be trending in the right direction for the backup running back.
