2023 NFL free agency and trade tracker, live updates: Latest rumors, signings and moves throughout Week 2

We are about two weeks through NFL free agency with all the offseason moves and trades it brings, but there is still plenty to figure out. When will the Aaron Rodgers trade officially happen? Is Odell Beckham Jr. close to signing with a new club? And when will a potential suitor approach Lamar Jackson? We also have to keep an eye on DeAndre Hopkins, as the Arizona Cardinals wideout is expected to be traded sometime this offseason.

Maybe the big wave of signings has come and gone, but with the draft right around the corner, all 32 teams are continuing to explore the market to fill out rosters for the summer. There are still plenty of intriguing players out there looking for new deals.

As we continue to follow along on this Friday, here's a rundown of what you need to know:

NFL Media reports the Colts are giving Minshew a $3.5 million fully-guaranteed deal for one year. He's following Steichen to Indy.

Slayton wanted to remain a Giant and gets his wish. He was a reliable target for Daniel Jones in 2022 and could have put up even better stats if Jones had more time to throw. 

 

NFL Media reporting the Giants have agreed to terms with WR Darius Slayton. He's staying in the fold. 

 
 

ESPN reports the Bengals are signing former No. 38 overall pick OL Cody Ford. He's played for the Bills and Cardinals. Backup offensive lineman who has played some tackle. Cincy continuing to build offensive line after scoring Orlando Brown Jr. Wednesday night. 

 

The Giants added Parris Campbell on Thursday. What does that mean for Darius Slayton, who remains unsigned? Certainly it's more likely the veteran isn't back in New York. Slayton was mulling offers from multiple teams late in the legal tampering window, NewJersey.com reports, and one of the other teams involved may have been the Falcons. No word yet on where he's leaning now.

 

As for another WR on the market, Odell Beckham Jr. is still drawing interest from multiple teams, per ESPN's Dianna Russini, and his representation is in direct talks with suitors. But this isn't anything new from the start of free agency. It'd be a mild surprise if Beckham was signed anytime soon. His perception of his market has seemingly differed from that of potential landing spots. Will he play in 2023? Sure. But there's been no indication anyone's jumping to pay him anything close to top-15 WR money.

 

The Panthers still lack WR talent after dealing D.J. Moore to the Bears, but they've got another D.J. coming to town for a visit, according to theScore: former Jaguars and Lions wideout D.J. Chark is scheduled to meet with Carolina on Friday. He'd be a solid low-risk, high-reward deep threat for the team. But no matter what, look for at least one addition at WR through the draft.

 

A little surprising: Taylor Heinicke announces upon arrival in Atlanta that he's preparing for 2023 as a No. 2 QB. His contract suggests he'll get a chance to compete for the starting job. But he's deferring to Desmond Ridder publicly:
 

Andrew Billings is headed to the Bears on a one-year, $3.5M deal, per NFL Media. Another defensive addition for Matt Eberflus' squad. Should be a solid run-stuffer for their front, with new LBs Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards backing him up.

 

The Miami Dolphins are signing wide receiver/returner Braxton Berrios to a one-year deal, per ESPN. The 27-year-old's best season in the NFL came back in 2021 when he notched highs in receptions (46) and receiving yards (431). Berrios was also a first-team All-Pro returner. In an odd twist, he is also joining his third AFC East club after he initially came into the league with the Patriots and spent the last four seasons with New York.

More news out of Pittsburgh: team is interesting in bringing back Bud Dupree, a 2015 first-round pick who had double-digit sacks during his final season in Pittsburgh. 

 

Well, that escalated quickly. The Steelers have released Jack, via ESPN, after signing Roberts. 

 

More FA updates: Chase Edmunds is reportedly signing with the Buccaneers, and LB Mack Wilson is signing with the Patriots, via NFL Media. 

 

Interesting developments in Pittsburgh. With the signing of Roberts, the Steelers could be preparing to part with Myles Jack, who had over 100 tackles during his first season in Pittsburgh. 
 

Former Dolphins linebacker Elandon Roberts is heading to the Steelers on a two-year deal. He spent the past three seasons in Miami, starting in 44 of 48 games he played.
 

Fitzpatrick's restructure helped the Steelers acquire CB Patrick Peterson, LB Cole Holcomb, OL Nate Herbig and in-house free agent Larry Ogunjobi. Pittsburgh expressed interest in Orlando Brown Jr., so they likely aren't done spending in FA yet. 
 

Patriots have a couple of free agent visits on the books for today and both come on the defensive side of the ball. Rams safety Taylor Rapp is scheduled to check out Foxborough, per ESPN. The 25-year-old could be an intriguing replacement for recently retired Devin McCourty. Meanwhile, the team is also reportedly taking a look at Dolphins free agent linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel.

 

So apparently the Jets and Steelers were among the teams that also made offers to Orlando Brown Jr., via ESPN. But the amount of guaranteed money the Bengals' offered was too good for Brown to turn down. Cincinnati's offensive line, the team's weak spot in 2021, is now a strength. 

 

With the Bengals losing both Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell in free agency, the club is scouring the safety market. On Thursday, the team is hosting former Rams safety Nick Scott on a visit, per NFL Media. Scott had 86 tackles and two interceptions in 16 starts for L.A. last season. 

 

Seattle could be looking to bolster its defensive backfield. The club is set to host defensive back Lonnie Johnson on a free-agent visit on Thursday, per ESPN. Johnson was a second-round pick of the Texans in 2019 and played 12 games for the Titans last season, but mostly on special teams.

While Aaron Rodgers did provide some clarity on his end on Wednesday by saying his intent is to play for the Jets, that trade does need to actually go down, so we'll now wait to see what kind of trade New York and Green Bay can work out. Elsewhere on the QB market, it's been largely quiet for Lamar Jackson, who was officially able to negotiate with teams at the start of the new league year.

 

It's another day of NFL free agency and there was plenty of late-night action that unfolded. The biggie was Orlando Brown Jr. signing with Cincinnati, giving the Bengals some much-needed help along the offensive line. Meanwhile, the Panthers are making a number of sly moves. They signed both Hayden Hurst and Miles Sanders on Wednesday, while they've also been linked to former Vikings wideout Adam Thielen.
