  • Nathan Mensah: Cut by Hornets

Mensah was waived by the Hornets on Saturday. Mensah appeared in 25 games for the Hornets and averaged 1.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.6 blocks across 12.3 minutes in the process. The 25-year-old will now look for an opportunity elsewhere, but if he doesn't catch on with another NBA team, he'll presumably stick around in the Hornets organization as a member of the G League's Greensboro Swarm.

  • Hornets' Nathan Mensah: Sticks in rotation Monday

Mensah ended Monday's 128-125 win over the Timberwolves with two points (1-1 FG), three rebounds and one assist over 15 minutes. Mensah continues to play as the backup center, logging at least 15 minutes for the third consecutive game. While it has been nice to see him getting a crack at the big time, the fact he is still playing limited minutes even though the team is without its two primary center options, Nick Richards (ankle) and Mark Williams (back), does not bode well for Mensah's short-term future.

  • Hornets' Nathan Mensah: Won't play Monday

Mensah isn't with the team and has been ruled out for Monday's game in Toronto due to personal reasons. Mensah made his NBA debut Friday and has appeared in each of the Hornets' last two games, totaling four points, 15 rebounds and one assist in 42 minutes. With Miles Bridges (personal) out, Mark Williams (back) doubtful and P.J. Washington (shoulder) and Gordon Hayward (illness) questionable, the Hornets' frontcourt may be extremely shorthanded, so Nick Richards, JT Thor and Leaky Black are candidates for hefty roles.

  • Hornets' Nathan Mensah: Available Friday

Charlotte head coach Steve Clifford said Mensah will be available to make his NBA debut during Friday's game against New Orleans, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports. The Hornets will be shorthanded in the frontcourt Friday with Mark Williams (back) and P.J. Washington (shoulder) unavailable, so Mensah will have an opportunity to see some minutes, likely off the bench. He's averaged 10.3 points and 8.4 rebounds in 29.3 minutes per game over 14 appearances for the G League's Greensboro Swarm this year and signed a two-way contract with the Hornets on Thursday, but he's unlikely to see as much work with the parent club.

  • Hornets' Nathan Mensah: Set to sign two-way deal

Mensah is set to sign a two-way contract with the Hornets, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Mensah, who was undrafted out of San Diego State, has been playing with Charlotte's G League affiliate in Greensboro, but he will get the chance to earn NBA minutes in a depleted frontcourt. However, he's not likely to see meaningful minutes in the short-term scenario. Mensah is averaging 10.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game across 14 appearances with the Swarm at the G League level.
