Lewis concluded his third season averaging 4.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 9.4 minutes per game across 25 appearances. Lewis started the season in the G League as he made his way back from a knee injury that ended his second season, and he bounced between the G League and New Orleans' main roster throughout the season. The third-year pro had a solid stretch of games in February and March, where he was featured in 18 out of 25 games before falling out of the rotation once again to close the season. Despite flashing some upside, Lewis remains on the fringe of the rotation, and it's hard to see him making his way into a significant role without major changes to the roster.... See More ... Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Garbage time run Tuesday
Lewis finished Tuesday's 121-103 loss to Sacramento with two points (2-2 FT) over three minutes. Lewis played three minutes of garbage time in the loss, continuing what has been yet another frustrating fantasy season. Despite some very clear potential, Lewis remains on the fringe of the rotation. He has played more than 10 minutes on only nine occasions this season, utilized sporadically at best. Barring a change in scenery, it is hard to see him getting to the point where he can even be considered in fantasy formats.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Looks good in limited run
Lewis totaled eight points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt), one rebound and one assist over 10 minutes during Friday's 118-107 loss to the Cavaliers. Lewis is at the edge of the rotation but has been making the most of his limited minutes lately. However, the arrival of Josh Richardson further complicates things in the backcourt, so Lewis' path to minutes still isn't great.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Provides ample support from bench
Lewis amassed 15 points (7-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt), six rebounds, three assists and one block across 27 minutes during Sunday's 135-110 loss to the Bucks. With CJ McCollum (thumb) and Brandon Ingram (toe) sidelined, Lewis was ushered back into the rotation for one of the few times all season and made the most of his opportunity. Though the 21-year-old is healthy again after having most of his 2021-22 wiped out by a torn ACL, Lewis may find a regular role off the New Orleans bench hard to come by if both McCollum and Ingram are back in action for Tuesday's game in Denver.... Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Recalled by Pelicans
Lewis was recalled by the Pelicans from the team's G League affiliate Friday. Lewis has accumulated 15.5 points, 3.4 assists and 2.3 rebounds over 26.5 minutes per game in his 11 appearances with the Squadron, but he'll be back with the Pelicans and available to provide depth in the backcourt Saturday. That said, most of New Orleans' backcourt options are healthy, so he may not see much action.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Struggles from field in loss
Lewis notched 11 points (3-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), a rebound, four assists and two steals across 33 minutes in Wednesday's loss to Raptors 905. Lewis has been assigned to the G League after seeing limited minutes with the Pelicans in the NBA, and he continues to build his confidence after suffering an ACL injury last year. This was his regular-season debut with the Squadron, and he should remain a starter with Birmingham as long as he's healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Assigned to G League
The Pelicans assigned Lewis to the G League's Birmingham Squadron on Tuesday. Lewis made four appearances during his recent stint with the NBA club and averaged 4.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in 6.3 minutes. Across nine games with the Squadron, he's averaging 16.1 points, 2.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 25.3 minutes. Lewis continues to build back confidence in his game after recovering from a torn ACL.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Recalled by Pelicans
Lewis was recalled from the G League's Birmingham Squadron on Friday. Lewis was sent to the G League on Monday and saw considerable run with the Squadron, but he'll rejoin the parent club and be available for Friday's game against the Thunder. He logged four points and a rebound in six minutes during his lone appearance with the Pelicans this year.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Scores team-high 19 points
Lewis notched 19 points (7-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, an assist and a steal across 31 minutes in Thursday's loss to the Gold. Lewis made his NBA debut with the Pelicans a few days ago, but he's going to see most of his time in the G League, where he's already showing glimpses of his quality. He's made just nine appearances for Birmingham, but he's averaging 16.1 points per game in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Back to G League
The Pelicans assigned Lewis to the G League's Birmingham Squadron on Monday, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports. Lewis made his NBA season debut Dec. 13, totaling four points and one rebound in six minutes during a loss to the Jazz, but he didn't appear in either of the Pelicans' past two contests. The third-year guard figures to get extended playing time during the G League Showcase this week.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Makes 2022-23 NBA debut
Lewis played six minutes off the bench Tuesday in the Pelicans' 121-100 loss to the Jazz, finishing with four points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one rebound. After tearing his ACL and suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain to his right knee just over a year ago, Lewis was finally able to make his return to action for the Pelicans. The third-year guard has been healthy for quite some time, as he made seven appearances at the G League level with the Birmingham Squadron before rejoining the Pelicans. Even with Brandon Ingram (toe) out for at least the next week, the Pelicans may not have a rotation spot available for Lewis, who could head back to the G League in the near future for more consistent playing time.... Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Called up from G League
Lewis was recalled from the G League's Birmingham Squadron on Friday, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Lewis spent just over a week in the G League but will be available for the Pelicans' matchup against the Suns on Friday. He'll provide depth with Jose Alvarado (ribs) questionable.... See More ... Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Sent to G League
Lewis was assigned to the G League Birmingham Squadron on Thursday. Lewis has yet to take the floor for the Pelicans due to a knee injury and seemed slated to make his first NBA run of the season; however, his debut will have to wait as he spends more time with the Squadron. He should remain a top option for Birmingham for as long as he's there.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Recalled by Pelicans
Lewis was recalled from the G League's Birmingham Squadron on Monday. Lewis hasn't yet made his season debut for the Pelicans this year due to a knee injury, but he'll be available for Monday's game against the Thunder after spending some time in the G League. Over 24 appearances with New Orleans last year, he averaged 5.9 points and 2.0 assists in 14.2 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Scores 19 in 22 minutes
Lewis scored 19 points (7-17 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT) while adding three rebounds and an assist across 22 minutes in Saturday's loss to Austin. Lewis was rehabbing from a knee injury at the start of the season and has been playing for the Squadron in an effort to regain his conditioning. While that is the primary goal, Lewis' numbers will ultimately decide whether he's ready to move into the NBA or not. Three games is a small sample size, and the lack of consistency hasn't helped, as he's posted at least 18 points in two games but had a four-point dud sandwiched in between.... See More ... Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Scores 18 points in season debut
Lewis notched 18 points (7-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three steals, two assists and a rebound across 18 minutes in Thursday's win over Austin. As expected, Lewis made his debut with the Squadron and had a strong outing, especially when factoring in that he didn't even hit the 20-minute mark, as he looked efficient from the field en route to posting the third-best scoring tally on the team. Lewis is expected to play several more games with the Squadron in order to regain his conditioning, which means it might be a while before he makes his 2022-23 NBA debut.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Debuting for G League club
Lewis (knee) is scheduled to play for the G League's Birmingham Squadron in the club's game against the Austin Spurs on Thursday, Jennifer Hale of Bally Sports New Orleans reports. Lewis will be taking the court Thursday for his first game action in 11 months, after he missed most of the 2021-22 season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. According to Hale, Lewis has been taking part in 5-on-5 work during practice for about a month, but the Pelicans may want to see him regain conditioning over the course of multiple games in the G League before making him available for his 2022-23 NBA debut. Once he rejoins the Pelicans, Lewis isn't guaranteed to have a regular spot in head coach Willie Green's rotation.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Assigned to G League
The Pelicans assigned Lewis (knee) to the G League's Birmingham Squadron on Monday, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. The move is a positive sign for Lewis' rehab, especially considering the guard is less than a year removed from the torn ACL he suffered in December of 2021. It's still not clear when Lewis will be available to make his 2022-23 debut, but he seems to be progressing well. He'll resume his rehab with the Pelicans' G League squad as he works his way back to full health.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Remains out indefinitely
Lewis (knee) won't play Sunday against the Jazz and remains out indefinitely. Updates on Lewis' rehab from a torn ACL last December have been infrequent. It seems unlikely he'll be returning this month.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Kira Lewis: Out again Friday
Lewis (knee) is out for Friday's game versus the Hornets. Lewis will have to wait to make his season debut while recovering from ACL surgery he underwent last December. His next chance to play is Sunday versus Utah, but there is no clear timeline on when he will return.... See More ... See Less
