Christie (ankle) recorded nine points (3-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block across 29 minutes Thursday in the Lakers' 128-110 loss to the Warriors. Back in action after missing the final three games before the All-Star break with a sprained right ankle, Christie ended up seeing his most minutes since the calendar flipped to 2024. He had been featured in the Lakers' rotation prior to suffering the injury, but Christie took on expanded minutes Thursday mainly as a result of LeBron James (ankle) missing the contest. James is expected to play Friday versus the Spurs, and Christie could also face a new threat for playing time in Cam Reddish (ankle), who could put an end to a 12-game absence.... See More ... Lakers' Max Christie: Available for Thursday
Christie (ankle) is available for Thursday's game against the Warriors, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. Christie will shed his questionable tag, but Cam Reddish (ankle) will sit this one out. In Christie's last two appearances, he averaged 6.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers in 16.5 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Gets questionable designation
Christie (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Warriors, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Christie missed the Lakers' final three games before the All-Star break due to a sprained right ankle and is at risk of missing Thursday's contest as well. The game is the first leg of a back-to-back set, and Cam Reddish (ankle) is also questionable while LeBron James (ankle) has been ruled out, meaning that Christie could stumble into a larger workload if active.... Lakers' Max Christie: Out next two games
Christie (ankle) won't be available Tuesday versus the Pistons or Wednesday versus the Jazz, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. After sitting out Friday's 139-122 win over the Pelicans with a right ankle sprain, Christie will remain sidelined through the All-Star break before being re-evaluated. Most of his vacated minutes will likely be assumed by Spencer Dinwiddie, who signed a one-year deal with the Lakers after clearing waivers over the weekend.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Not playing Friday
Christie (ankle) will not play in Friday's game against the Pelicans, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports. Christie underwent an MRI on his right ankle, but the Lakers are still waiting for the results. The good news for the Lakers is that D'Angelo Russell (knee) has been cleared to return to action Friday after sitting out Thursday's loss to Denver. Christie should be considered questionable to play for Tuesday's game against Detroit until the Lakers provide an update on his MRI.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Unlikely to play Friday
Christie (ankle) is doubtful for Friday's game against New Orleans. Christie suffered a right ankle sprain during Thursday's matchup against the Nuggets and will likely be forced to miss the second half of the back-to-back set. However, the Lakers' backcourt will likely get a boost since D'Angelo Russell (knee) is probable after missing Thursday's game.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Starting against Denver
Christie will start Thursday's game against the Nuggets, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. The Lakers are without D'Angelo Russell (knee), who is considered day-to-day. In six starts this season, Christie has averaged 6.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.8 three-pointers.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Capitalizes on garbage time
Christie registered seven points (3-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and one block across 20 minutes during Monday's 135-119 loss to Houston. Christie entered Monday's contest having compiled eight points on 2-for-10 shooting across 49 minutes in his last four games. Monday's increased workload can be attributed more to the nature of the contest than to Christie stepping into an enlarged role, even in the absence of Cam Reddish (knee).... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Quiet despite injured Reddish
Christie produced three points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three assists and one steal in 14 minutes during Saturday's 132-125 loss to Utah. Christie started the second half of Saturday's loss to Utah after Cam Reddish exited with knee soreness, but it didn't translate to a meaningful workload. Christie entered Saturday's contest averaging 8.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in 22.2 minutes across his last six appearances, but D'Angelo Russell was leaned on instead, booming for 39 points in 41 minutes.... Lakers' Max Christie: Solid numbers in Thursday's loss
Christie contributed 14 points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds and four assists across 25 minutes during Thursday's 127-109 loss to Phoenix. Cam Reddish (knee) left the game at halftime, opening up minutes for bench players like Christie in the second half. The second-year guard has seen 20-plus minutes in five of his last seven games, a stretch in which he's averaging 8.6 points, 5.1 boards, 1.3 assists, 1.1 threes, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks in 22.4 minutes a night. Should Reddish's injury allow Christie to take on a larger role more consistently, the latter could put himself on fantasy radars.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Gets opportunity in win
Christie provided 10 points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal over 24 minutes during Thursday's 133-112 victory over the Hornets. Christie's minutes were elevated in the absence of Cam Reddish (groin) -- the blowout win assisting as well. Thursday's performance was arguably Christie's best of the campaign, though he only set a season high in blocks. The sophomore mainly operates as a three-point threat for the Lakers, though he's just 15-for-46 (32.6 percent) on the season. In fantasy, Christie is more of a keeper league flier rather than a waiver wire pickup.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Retreats to bench
Christie isn't starting Monday's game against the Knicks, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Christie received a chance to run with the first unit Friday in San Antonio, but he failed to do much with the opportunity, finishing with two points and one assist in 23 minutes. He'll return to a bench role with Cam Reddish cleared to play Monday evening.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Starting against Spurs
Christie will start Friday against the Spurs, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports. Cam Reddish is sitting out Friday's game with knee soreness, while D'Angelo Russell is out with a migraine. Christie will get a big opportunity to showcase his talents Friday with the Lakers shorthanded. In five starts this season, Christie has averaged 7.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 three-pointers.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Contributes in blowout win
Christie added five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt), one rebound, one assist, and one steal in the Lakers' 134-107 victory over the Grizzlies on Tuesday. Christie is averaging 3.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks on 38.6 percent shooting from the field (and a measly 16.7 percent from three) over 17.6 minutes of play in his last five games. Although he had promising performances in the 2023 Summer League, the second-year guard has not yet translated those showings into tangible results, and with the return of Jarred Vanderbilt (heel) and Gabe Vincent (knee) nearing, it appears he will fall out of the rotation barring injury.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Plays 22 minutes in OT win
Christie amassed five points (1-7 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and three rebounds across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 130-125 overtime victory over the Clippers. After totaling just one minute of playing time over the Lakers' first four games of the season, Christie saw an uptick in minutes with Gabe Vincent (knee) and Taurean Prince (knee) sidelined. It seems unlikely that those two players will miss significant time, and Christie will presumably fall out of the rotation again once the team gets some of their other contributors back in action.... Lakers' Max Christie: Healthy for training camp
Lakers coach Darvin Ham said Thursday that Christie (hip) is expected to be healthy for the beginning of training camp Tuesday, Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Sun reports. Christie suffered a right hip strain during Summer League play but should be good to go for training camp. Christie made 41 appearances for the Lakers in 2022-23 and should compete for a depth role this season.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Officially out Sunday
Christie (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's Summer League matchup with the Clippers, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. Christie played well for the Lakers throughout Summer League, posting averages of 19.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He will have a battle for playing time during the regular season, but his play has been encouraging recently.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Managing right hip strain
Christie sustained a right hip strain during Wednesday's Summer League matchup against the Celtics and is considered day-to-day, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. Christie has played a prominent role over three Summer League appearances, averaging 19.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 32.2 minutes per game. It's unclear whether he'll be able to suit up for Friday's game against the Grizzlies, but it seems unlikely that his injury would impact his availability for training camp.... See More ... Lakers' Max Christie: Shows out against Celtics
Christie logged 24 points (7-14 FG, 2-5 3PT, 8-8 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block over 35 minutes of Wednesday's 95-90 Summer League loss to Boston. Christie turned in another impressive performance, leading the Lakers in points and tying for the best rebound total. He also positively impacted the defensive end, corraling three steals-plus-blocks on his way to a positive-two plus-minus. The second-year guard has consistently been the Lakers' best player in Summer League and could contend for a regular-season rotation spot.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Max Christie: Shines in Summer League opener
Christie tallied 17 points (6-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Monday's 107-90 Summer League loss to Miami. Christie, a 2022 second-round pick, made 41 NBA appearances (three starts) during his rookie season, averaging just 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game. The 20-year-old got off to a good start in Summer League, but he'll have to take a big step forward this offseason if he's going to carve out a rotational role in Year 2.... See More ... See Less
