The 2024 Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday at 3 a.m. ET brings another opportunity for Red Bull Racing to separate itself from all other constructors in the F1 standings. Outside of the Australian GP, Red Bull has finished 1-2 in every race, with Max Verstappen having three wins and Sergio Perez notching three runners-up. However, the Chinese Grand Prix 2024 could provide a bit of a challenge as the two drivers have zero wins in a combined 14 starts at Shanghai International Circuit. As a team, Red Bull has two victories in China as this will be the first Chinese GP since 2019.

The team's two drivers are the biggest two favorites, per the 2024 Chinese GP odds. Verstappen tops the odds board at -450 (risk $450 to win $100), with Perez following at +1100. Ferrari occupies the next two spots with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerq both at +1200. Lando Norris comes in at +3300 while F1 legend Lewis Hamilton is at +5000. Before analyzing the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix starting grid and making any Formula 1 picks, be sure to check out the latest 2024 Chinese GP predictions and betting advice from SportsLine's proven projection model.

Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary Formula 1 prediction model simulates every race 10,000 times, taking into account factors such as track history and recent results. It's had a strong history of success in motorsports, correctly predicting nine NASCAR winners since the 2021 season and its projected leaderboards have forecasted winners across multiple racing formats.

The model has been scorching hot when it comes to picking Formula 1 race events dating back to 2021. It nailed both of Charles Leclerc's wins in 2022, and at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix, the model was strongly backing Verstappen as its top pick. The result: Verstappen dominated the field and ran away with a surprise victory.

The model followed that up by calling Verstappen's win at the Rolex Emilia Romagna GP in April and then nailed his wins again in Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, the United States, Mexico and Abu Dhabi. It also nailed all 19 of Verstappen's wins during the 2023 season and then called all three of the defending champion's wins to start the 2024 season. Anyone who followed the model's lead on those plays has seen huge returns.

Now, the model has dialed in on the 2024 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix and just released its coveted picks and leaderboard projections. You can head to SportsLine now to see the complete 2024 Chinese Grand Prix projected leaderboard.

Top 2024 Formula 1 Chinese GP predictions

One surprise: The model is fading Sainz, predicting he doesn't even make the podium even though he's one of the top favorites at +1200. You can understand Sainz' short odds as across his three starts this season, he has a victory and two third-place finishes. However, when you see his history at the Chinese GP, Sainz' odds then become an outlier as he's yet to realize any type of success at Shanghai International Circuit. His average finish across five previous starts is 10.4 and is coming off a career-worst 14th place at the track in his last start there in 2019.

Sainz has never made a podium in China as his best finish is just seventh place. His other three finishes at the track consist of a pair of ninth-place finishes and a 13th-place. Add in that his team in Ferrari has gone 0 for 12 in terms of victories over the last six Chinese Grands Prix, and it's hard to get excited about Sainz at this price point. See who else the model is backing and fading at the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix right here.

How to make 2024 Chinese Grand Prix picks

Instead, the model is also targeting two drivers going off longer than 60-1 to make surprising surges up the leaderboard, including an epic triple-digit longshot. Anyone who backs them could hit it big. You can find out who they are, and see all of the model's F1 picks and predictions, at SportsLine.
