Miller went 0-for-2 with a walk during Saturday's Cactus League game against the Royals and could be hitting his way onto the Brewers' Opening Day roster this spring, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. Miller has gone 8-for-20 with four doubles during Cactus League play and is also being used some in center field, a position he's never played in pro ball. The Brewers are looking for additional right-handed help in the outfield with Tyrone Taylor (elbow) out a while, and Miller certainly would enhance his chances of cracking the Opening Day roster if he can at least be passable in the outfield. The 26-year-old was acquired from the Guardians in December for a player to be named later or cash.... See More ... See Less

Brewers' Owen Miller: Heading to Milwaukee
Miller was traded from the Guardians to the Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Miller appeared in 130 games for Cleveland last year and slashed .243/.301/.351 with six homers, 53 runs, 51 RBI and two stolen bases. He played at first base, second base, third base and served as a designated hitter in 2022, and he'll likely have a better chance to carve out playing time in Milwaukee since Kolten Wong was traded to the Mariners in early December.... Guardians' Owen Miller: Accounts for margin of victory
Miller went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Royals. Miller capped off the Guardians' five-run fifth inning with his homer, which was his sixth of the season. It also ended up being just enough for Cleveland to earn the win. Since the start of September, Miller has gone 16-for-63 (.254) with three extra-base hits, seven RBI and six runs scored. That's just a tick better than his .243/.301/.351 slash line for the year. The infielder has added 51 RBI, 53 runs scored, 26 doubles, a triple and two stolen bases while serving as a short-side platoon option at designated hitter, first base and second base.... Guardians' Owen Miller: Picks up second steal
Miller went 0-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-7 extra-innings win over the White Sox. Miller had sat out each of the last two games after playing both halves of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Twins. His 10-game hitting streak ended Tuesday, but he was able to get aboard twice with his first multi-walk game since June 26. The infielder is up to a .246/.302/.350 slash line with two steals, five home runs, 48 RBI and 51 runs scored through 123 contests. Still, he's been more of a part-time player in September, with Tyler Freeman seeing more time as a utility infielder lately.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Sitting against righty again
Miller is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. The righty-hitting Miller will take a seat for the fourth time in six games, with each of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. He looks as though he could begin to lose work versus righties to either Tyler Freeman or Will Benson.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Riding pine Friday
Miller isn't in the lineup Friday against the Twins. Miller drew four consecutive starts this week and went 6-for-15 with a double, a run and two strikeouts across that span. However, he'll be on the bench for a second consecutive matchup while Josh Naylor starts at first base and bats cleanup.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Out of Thursday's lineup
Miller is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox. Miller is riding a seven-game hitting streak and has gone 10-for-27 (.370) during that stretch, but he will open on the bench Thursday with manager Terry Francona wanting to get another left-hander in the lineup against opposing starter Lance Lynn.... Guardians' Owen Miller: On bench Sunday
Miller is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners. Miller will sit for the second time in the series while Josh Naylor logs another start at first base to open up the designated-hitter spot for Jose Ramirez. Meanwhile, Tyler Freeman will enter the lineup for the first time since Aug. 26 to spell Ramirez at third base.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Out of Friday's lineup
Miller is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners. Miller is 2-for-12 with five strikeouts over his past five games and will head to the bench for the second time in Cleveland's last four contests. Richie Palacios will bat seventh as the designated hitter Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Resting Wednesday
Miller isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Orioles. Miller started the last two games and went 2-for-6 with a run, a walk and two strikeouts. Josh Naylor will man first base and bat cleanup.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Remains on bench
Miller will sit for the second straight game Saturday against Seattle. Miller is hitting just .196/.250/.286 in August, lowering his OPS on the season to .650. Josh Naylor will make another start at first base in his absence.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Not starting Friday
Miller isn't starting Friday against the Mariners. Miller started the last two games and went 2-for-7 with a run and a strikeout. Josh Naylor will man first base.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Remains on bench Tuesday
Miller is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at San Diego. Miller has a .542 OPS in August and finds himself on the bench for the second consecutive contest. Josh Naylor will move to first base while Richie Palacios serves as the designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Riding pine against righty
Miller is not in Saturday's lineup against the White Sox. He had started four of the last six games, three of those coming against same-handed pitching, but Miller will sit for the second day in a row against a veteran righty (Lance Lynn on Friday, Johnny Cueto on Saturday). Josh Naylor is starting at first base and Oscar Gonzalez is starting at designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Back on bench versus righty
Miller will take a seat Thursday against the Astros and right-hander Justin Verlander. Miller had started the previous three games, going 2-for-12 with a home run and two RBI. Josh Naylor will get the starting nod at first base and should be the Guardians' preferred option against right-handed pitching moving forward, but Miller could see a slight uptick in opportunities versus righties while the team takes a committee approach to designated hitter following Franmil Reyes' recent demotion to Triple-A Columbus.... Guardians' Owen Miller: Homers in return
Miller went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks. Miller missed one game with a right forearm bruise. He was able to play all 11 innings at first base Monday, and he supplied a homer in the second inning to give the Guardians their first two runs in the game. He's gone 17 games without a multi-hit effort, slashing .241/.311/.389 in that span. The infielder has a .247/.302/.375 slash line for the year while adding five homers, 42 RBI, 40 runs scored and a stolen base through 341 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Back in action Monday
Miller (forearm) is starting Monday against the Diamondbacks. Miller was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to a forearm bruise, but he'll be back in action a day later. Over his last four games, he's gone 4-for-16 with a double, three runs and two RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Scratched with forearm bruise
Miller (forearm) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays. Miller had been included in the Guardians' initial lineup after starting at first base for Josh Naylor (ankle) in the previous two contests, but the forearm contusion that forced Miller's early exit from Saturday's 6-4 loss will ultimately keep him on the bench for the series finale. Naylor will also continue to sit Sunday, paving the way for utility man Ernie Clement to pick up the start at first base.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Exits with right forearm contusion
Miller was removed from Saturday's game against the Rays due to a right forearm contusion, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. Miller was a late addition to Saturday's lineup after Josh Naylor (ankle) was scratched, but Miller was hit by a pitch in the top of the sixth inning and removed from the game in the top of the eighth. Prior to his departure, he went 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI and a strikeout. It's not yet clear whether Miller will be forced to miss additional time, but any potential absence will leave the Guardians depleted at first base.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Owen Miller: Retreats to bench versus righty
Miller is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers. Miller had started the past three games and should have a regular spot in the lineup versus left-handed pitching moving forward. However, his opportunities to play against right-handed pitchers like Detroit's Elvin Rodriguez could become more sporadic now that the lefty-hitting Josh Naylor is healthy again after a recent multi-game absence due to a back injury....
