  • Mets' Tylor Megill: Tagged for six runs in loss

Megill (5-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 3.2 innings.

Megill made quick work of the Cubs in the opening frame but proceeded to allow four runs in the second, surrendering home runs to Seiya Suzuki and Matt Mervis in the inning. He exited the game having thrown 78 pitches after the Cubs got to him for two additional runs in the fourth following an error to begin the inning. Tuesday was the shortest outing of the season thus far for Megill but he did rack up five strikeouts for the first time since April 1. He now sits at a 4.32 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 40:25 K:BB over 50 innings and lines up for a road test against the Rockies over the weekend.

  • Mets' Tylor Megill: Getting start Tuesday

Megill will start for the Mets instead of Kodai Senga on Tuesday against the Cubs, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

This will allow Senga to get a bit of extra rest and skip the Mets' upcoming weekend series at Coors Field. Senga will handle Wednesday's game at Wrigley Field and then next Tuesday's series opener at home against the division-rival Phillies.

  • Mets' Tylor Megill: Picks up fifth victory

Megill (5-2) earned the win over Tampa Bay on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings.

As usual, Megill didn't drop any jaws with his performance, but he limited the damage against him and went six innings to produce his second quality start of the campaign. What he's lacked in electricity the right-hander has made up for in consistency -- he's struck out exactly four batters in four straight outings and has yet to give up more than four runs in an appearance this season. Megill's five wins on the campaign are tied for sixth-most in the majors.

  • Mets' Tylor Megill: Surprise winner Friday

Megill (4-2) picked up the win in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Nationals, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander was far from efficient, throwing only 53 of 93 pitches for strikes, and when Megill left the mound for good after the bottom of the fifth inning, the Mets were staring at a 2-0 deficit. The team's moribund offense put three runs on the board in the top of the sixth, however, while Megill was still the pitcher of record. The 27-year-old continues to fight the strike zone and has issued at least three walks in five of his last six outings, posting a 4.91 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 21:18 K:BB through 29.1 innings over that stretch. Despite those struggles, it's not clear whether Megill or Joey Lucchesi will get bumped from the rotation when Carlos Carrasco (elbow) returns from the IL.

  • Mets' Tylor Megill: Stuck with second loss

Megill (3-2) took the loss Saturday as the Mets fell 5-2 to the Rockies, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander wasn't particularly sharp, throwing only 58 of 96 pitches for strikes, but he also didn't get much help from his offense as the Mets never led in the game. Megill will take a 4.33 ERA and 27:18 K:BB through 35.1 innings into his next start, likely to come on the road next weekend against the Nationals.

  • Mets' Tylor Megill: Falls apart in sixth frame

Megill pitched 5.2 innings against Atlanta in the second game of a doubleheader Monday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four batters. He did not factor in the decision.

Megill got through five frames without yielding a run and carried a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning. However, he got into trouble in that frame by allowing a leadoff double and two walks to find himself in a bases-loaded, two-out jam. Eddie Rosario tagged the right-hander for a bases-clearing double, wiping out his lead and ending his outing on a sour note. Megill won his first three starts of the season but hasn't picked up a victory since. Over his past three outings, he's recorded a 6.14 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and unpalatable 10:8 K:BB over 14.2 frames.
