Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Undergoes shoulder surgery
Mitchell underwent scheduled surgery Tuesday to repair the labrum in his left shoulder, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Mitchell is likely done for the remainder of the 2023 season, though Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Thursday that there is a sliver of hope he could return late in the year. The 24-year-old injured his shoulder April 18 on a slide into third base. Joey Wiemer has been drawing the majority of starts in center field for Milwaukee in recent weeks.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Heads to 60-day IL
The Brewers transferred Mitchell (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
The transaction is a procedural move that clears up a spot on the 40-man roster for newly acquired reliever Trevor Megill. Mitchell is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left shoulder during the upcoming week, and while no timeline has been established for his return, he'll most likely miss the remainder of the season.

Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Will undergo surgery
Mitchell will have surgery on his left shoulder after receiving a second opinion Tuesday, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
After suffering significant damage to his labrum while sliding into third base last week against Seattle, Mitchell will now officially undergo surgery. The Brewers may not have a timeline for Mitchell's return until his surgery is completed, but the speedy center fielder will most likely miss the rest of the season, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Since Mitchell hurt his shoulder, Joey Wiemer has received the majority of reps in center field for Milwaukee, but that could change once Tyrone Taylor (elbow) and Sal Frelick (thumb) recover from their respective injuries.
