  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Takes swings Friday

Chourio (hand) took some swings Friday for the first time since left hamate bone surgery, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Chourio's recovery from the operation has come along more slowly than anticipated, but he took a big step Friday. The talented young outfielder will continue to ramp up his rehab, with the goal of being ready for his season debut sometime in early May.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Likely out until May

Chourio's estimated return from a fracture in his left hand has been pushed back into early May, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The 22-year-old's fractured hand has been showing signs of healing, but he hadn't been cleared to resume hitting as of late last week. Chourio landed on the shelf just before Opening Day and was given an initial return timeline of 2-to-4 weeks, but it appears his absence will be extending beyond that. Milwaukee's outfield depth is being tested early this season, with Christian Yelich (groin) also landing on the injured list.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Still not cleared to hit

Chourio's fractured hand is showing signs of healing, but he still isn't cleared to resume hitting, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Chourio was hit on the hand while playing in an exhibition with Team Venezuela back on March 4. Originally expected to be sidelined 2-to-4 weeks, Chourio suffered the injury more than five weeks ago and still can't swing a bat. He's likely to need a rehab assignment once he's cleared to resume full baseball activities. Blake Perkins, Brandon Lockridge and Jake Bauers have been seeing extra playing time while Chourio has been sidelined.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Follow-up imaging Thursday

Chourio will undergo follow-up imaging on his fractured left wrist Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. As things stand right now, Chourio remains on track to return in mid- to late-April, though it's possible the timetable is altered based on what the imaging shows. Chourio was placed on the 10-day injured list Opening Day as a result of a hand fracture that occurred back on March 4.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Out 2-to-4 weeks with hand fracture

The Brewers placed Chourio (hand) on the 10-day injured list Thursday. Chourio was hit on the left hand by a pitch while playing an exhibition game with Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic back on March 4. He returned to action a few days later, but a recent MRI revealed a hairline fracture at the base of his third metacarpal, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Chourio is expected to be sidelined 2-to-4 weeks. Jake Bauers, Garrett Mitchell, Blake Perkins and Brandon Lockridge should see more reps in the outfield for the Brewers as a result of Chourio's injury. The club could also use designated hitter Christian Yelich more in the outfield while Chourio is out.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Rejoins Venezuela lineup

Chourio (hand) will start in center field and bat second for Team Venezuela in Monday's game against Team Nicaragua in the World Baseball Classic. As anticipated, Chourio will make his return to the starting nine after sitting out Venezuela's first two games of the WBC while recovering from the left hand injury he suffered when he was hit by a pitch Wednesday in an exhibition game. Before joining the Venezuelan team for the WBC, Chourio appeared in six Cactus League games for the Brewers, going 4-for-18 with a 3:3 BB:K.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Could return Monday

Team Venezuela manager Omar Lopez said Saturday that Chourio (hand) should rejoin the lineup for Monday's World Baseball Classic game against Nicaragua, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. Chourio has been out of Venezuela's lineup for both of the last two games while nursing a left hand injury that he suffered in an exhibition game Wednesday, when he was hit by a pitch. The good news for Chourio is that the injury isn't considered a long-term concern, and the 21-year-old should be back in the lineup in short order.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Nursing hand injury

Chourio is out of the lineup for Venezuela's World Baseball Classic game against the Netherlands on Friday due to a left hand injury, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com. The 21-year-old was hit by a pitch during Wednesday's exhibition game and won't start Friday, but he's expected to be available to pinch run and play defense after X-rays came back negative, per Alvarez-Montes. The injury doesn't appear to be a serious concern, but it's unclear if Chourio will be cleared to rejoin the lineup for Saturday's matchup with Israel.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: In Game 4 lineup

Chourio (hamstring) will start in left field and bat second in Game 4 of the NLCS against the Dodgers on Friday. Chourio aggravated his injured hamstring during the seventh inning of Game 3 on Thursday, but he is seemingly feeling well enough to remain in the starting nine Friday. The 21-year-old outfielder has been one of the few Brewers hitters to contribute consistently during the postseason, slashing .276/.290/.552 with two homers and eight RBI through 31 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Aggravates hamstring injury

Chourio exited Thursday's game against the Dodgers after appearing to aggravate his right hamstring injury, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Chourio took an apparently normal swing in the seventh inning, but he immediately came up hobbling with what initially appeared to be a cramp. After he was unsuccessful in his attempts to get loosened back up, the young outfielder was quickly removed from the game in favor of Blake Perkins. Chourio should be considered day-to-day heading into Friday's Game 4 with the Brewers looking to avoid a sweep.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Hamstring is 'close to 100 percent'

Chourio said Monday that his right hamstring feels "close to 100 percent," Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Chourio missed most of August with a right hamstring strain and had to be removed from Games 1 and 2 of the NLDS after the hamstring flared up on him. While it appears Chourio is on the mend, the Brewers are still likely to ask the outfielder to take it easy on the basepaths so as not to aggravate the injury. Chourio is slashing .389/.421/.667 with one home run, two doubles and six RBI in five games this postseason.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Was removed due to tight hamstring

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Chourio was removed from Monday's Game 2 of the NLDS versus the Cubs in the ninth inning after his right hamstring tightened up, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. It's the same hamstring that Chourio tweaked in Game 1, forcing his removal from that contest. Murphy noted that Chourio will go through a very light workout Tuesday at Wrigley Field prior to Wednesday's Game 3, and the outfielder is considered day-to-day. Chourio is 5-for-7 with one home run and six RBI in the first two games of the series. If Chourio forced to miss Game 3, Isaac Collins would likely replace him in the outfield.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Delivers knockout punch

Chourio went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run during Monday's 7-3 victory in Game 2 of the National League Division Series against the Cubs. Chourio's status leading up to Monday night was uncertain after he departed Game 1 early with a hamstring injury, but he showed plenty of juice in Game 2. His biggest moment of the evening came in the bottom of the fourth inning when he clubbed a three-run home run off Daniel Palencia, providing his team with key insurance runs. It was clear throughout the game that Chourio wasn't running at full speed, as reported by Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, so it'll be worth keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old's status leading up to Wednesday's Game 3. Milwaukee did replace Chourio in left field for the top of the ninth inning, but the team has yet to indicate that this move was anything more than a precaution.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Exits with injury

Chourio was removed from Saturday's NLDS Game 1 matchup against the Cubs with an apparent leg injury, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports. Chourio came up limping after legging out an infield single -- his third hit of the game -- in the second inning of Saturday's contest, and he was immediately lifted for a pinch runner. The nature of his injury is currently unknown, but it's worth noting that the young outfielder missed more than a month during the regular season due to a strained hamstring.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Receiving break Sunday

Chourio is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. Chourio started the past seven games after being reinstated from the injured list last weekend, and he'll get a breather Sunday after collecting just one hit in his past 18 at-bats. Blake Perkins is manning center field and batting seventh in the series finale for Milwaukee.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Slugs 19th homer

Chourio went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Pirates. The center fielder took Evan Sisk deep in the eighth inning for some insurance runs. Chourio had been battling hamstring cramping this week, leading to an 0-for-14 skid to begin September, but Saturday's long ball is a good sign he's back to 100 percent. The 21-year-old is one homer and two steals away from a second straight 20-20 campaign to begin his career, but Chourio has yet to even attempt to steal a base in seven games since recovering from a hamstring strain and coming off the IL in late August.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Sitting due to hamstring cramp

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Chourio will be out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies after the outfielder reported some cramping in his hamstring following Monday's 10-8 loss in the series opener, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. "Nothing to worry about...I just thought, be cautious here a little bit, because we need him," Murphy said. Chourio missed a month of action due to a right hamstring strain before he returned from the injured list Saturday and went 6-for-12 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, four runs and two RBI in his first three games back in the lineup. The 21-year-old felt some stiffness in the hamstring while playing on the turf in Toronto over the weekend and didn't quite feel 100 percent Monday, so the Brewers decided it was a prudent move to give Chourio a two-day break, as Tuesday was a team off day. Murphy didn't seem to suggest that Chourio was dealing with any sort of setback or aggravation with the hamstring, so the expectation is that Chourio will be back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Returns from IL

The Brewers reinstated Chourio (hamstring) from the injured list Saturday. Chourio landed on the injured list toward the end of July due to a strained right hamstring, and after five rehab games at Triple-A Nashville, he's now been given the green light to reclaim an everyday role in Milwaukee's outfield. Although the 21-year-old went just 1-for-19 with two walks and eight strikeouts during his time in the minors, he had been slashing .386/.438/.591 in the second half prior to his injury. To make room for Chourio's return, Brandon Lockridge was optioned to Nashville.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Struggles on rehab assignment

Chourio (hamstring) has gone just 1-for-19 with an 8:2 K:BB in five rehab games with Triple-A Nashville. The results at the plate for Chourio on his rehab assignment have not been there, but the good news is he played through the top of the 10th inning of Nashville's extra-inning loss to Charlotte on Wednesday. That could be the final step he needed to take before being reinstated from the 10-day injured list, as he was off Thursday and is expected to rejoin the Brewers for their weekend series in Toronto. Chourio has been shelved since late July with a strained right hamstring.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Could return this weekend

Chourio (hamstring) will play seven innings in the outfield during his rehab game with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday and could rejoin the Brewers as soon as this weekend's three-game series in Toronto, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The 21-year-old was a bit tentative while running the bases during his rehab game Sunday, so Milwaukee has elected to continue the minor-league assignment for at least a few more days. If Chourio can further ramp up and play in a full game with no issues, he should have a chance to come off the injured list to face the Blue Jays.
