The Dodgers inquired about CC Sabathia and Mark Teixeira from the Yankees , according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman.

The Dodgers are telling teams that they are willing to take on big contracts. That’s how they were able to acquire Hanley Ramirez from the Marlins, and acquire Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto from Boston. Yankees’ executives told the Dodgers they had no interest in moving either player. Both players have no-trade clauses in their contracts, and would have had to approve a deal if the talks intensified.

Sabathia is currently in the first year of a five-year, $122 million extension. He’ll make $23 million through 2015, and $25 million in 2016. If Sabathia doesn’t get injured, his $25 million option would be guaranteed for 2017.

Teixeira is in the fourth year of an eight-year, $180 million contract. He is set to make $22.5 million annually through the rest of his deal.
