Sanchez was claimed off waivers by the Tigers and optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.
Sanchez was cast off the Cardinals' 40-man roster Wednesday after he slashed .255/.333/.409 with four home runs, 15 runs, 12 RBI and a stolen base in 30 games at Triple-A Memphis to begin the year. He'll attempt to carve out a role in Toledo after being claimed by the Tigers.
