Texas A&M's College Football Playoff hopes were dashed on Saturday in a 35-28 loss to Mississippi State, and the Aggies have big concerns going forward after quarterback Trevor Knight was forced out of the game with an injury.
Knight was knocked out of the game after landing on his right arm while being tackled going out of bounds late in the second quarter. When the No. 4-ranked Aggies came out of the locker room after halftime, Knight was in street clothes wearing a sling on his right arm.
Texas A&M struggled to move the ball consistently with both Knight and backup quarterback Jake Hubenak against the Bulldogs. Knight was 5-of-14 passing for 43 yards when he was knocked out of the game but was leading the team with 54 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Hubenak came in and threw for 222 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 11-of-17 passing, but the Aggies were never able to get the ground game established with Knight out, as the rest of the team had only 63 yards rushing.
