Update: It seems as though the injury to Miami quarterback Jack Allison is worse than previously reported. According to the Palm Beach Post and the Miami Herald, Allison sustained a concussion during a scrimmage over the weekend. The severity of Allison’s concussion is not known, however. Miami has not specified the exact nature of the reported injuries.

Putting quarterbacks in live situations has been a theme in the ACC this spring. And, to be sure, it’s necessary to gauge how players react in more realistic situations. Unfortunately for Miami, which is trying to replace veteran Brad Kaaya, allowing quarterbacks to be hit ended up with an injury.
According to the Miami Herald, redshirt freshman quarterback Jack Allison sustained a minor AC sprain to his right (throwing) shoulder on a sack during a scrimmage that was closed to the media. Second-year coach Mark Richt didn’t specify the nature of the injury, but he did say quarterbacks were sacked “at least four to eight” times.
The injury is believed to be day-to-day and should not require surgery. Allison, a former blue-chip prospect, stands at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds.
Redshirt junior Malik Rosier and redshirt sophomore Evan Shirreffs are two of the other quarterbacks competing for the chance to succeed Kaaya for the Hurricanes.
