Rutgers defensive end Darius Hamilton was one of the most highly-touted recruits in recent program history. As a five-star prospect and the top-rated player in the state of New Jersey, Hamilton's decision to join the Scarlet Knights made him an easy fan favorite.

The support Rutgers fans have for Hamilton, back in the mix for Rutgers after his 2015 senior season was cut short by an injury, is rivaled only by the support Hamilton has for the pop music group One Direction. Last we checked, One Direction's hiatus is expected to be a permanent one, ending a six-year, five-album run for the English-Irish boy band.

Hamilton told ESPN.com he's still holding out hope that the group will get back together and even offered a message to "One-D."

"Man, it's a struggle to watch them go like this," Hamilton added, via ESPN.com. "It was just the six-year anniversary the other day, and I had some down days. You have to miss what they gave us in the prime.

"I figured they were never going to get back together. Those are some tough pills to swallow."

According to the article, Hamilton's moved on to Jon Bellion for his pop music fix and plans to see the singer/songwriter/producer in concert later this month. Though One Direction isn't making music anymore, it's probably a safe bet that he will be keeping their legacy alive in the locker room this fall.
