• Duke had its final scrimmage of the preseason Tuesday. QB Sean Renfree was a perfect 10 for 10, and backup Anthony Boone was seven of seven, both against the second-team defense. The team also received word that WR Blair Holliday, hurt in an offseason accident, was able to walk. The news wasn’t all good: The NCAA turned down Duke’s appeal to have S Jeremy Cash eligible to play immediately after transferring from Ohio State. The Herald Sun’s Steve Wiseman was on the sideline for the scrimmage.
  • Georgia Tech announced that David Scully will be the team’s kicker. Scully was awarded a scholarship at the start of preseason practice and outkicked Justin Moore to win the job. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Ken Sugiura spoke to Scully.
