College basketball picks for SDSU vs. Wyoming

Before tuning into the Wyoming vs. SDSU game, you need to see the college basketball picks from SportsLine's advanced computer model. The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every Division I college basketball game 10,000 times. The model enters Week 9 of the season 30-16 on all top-rated college basketball picks, returning more than $800 for $100 players. Anybody who has followed it has seen significant returns.

For San Diego State vs. Wyoming, the model projects that the Cowboys earn the cover as 8-point home underdogs. The Cowboys are reprising their role as home underdogs from last Saturday, where they covered a 1.5-point spread with a 75-76 loss to undefeated New Mexico.

Sixth-year senior Hunter Maldonado had a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds against New Mexico and he had a 13-11-11 triple-double against San Diego State at home last season. Maldonado is Wyoming's all-time leading assister and he's top 10 in program history in minutes played, points and steals while on the verge of breaking into the top 10 in rebounding.

Meanwhile, San Diego State hasn't quite lived up to its own lofty defensive standards. The Aztecs led the nation in defensive rating (88.0) last season but rank 37th nationally in 2022-23 (91.2). The model predicts that Maldonado has a solid day 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists to help the Cowboys cover in nearly 70% of simulations. Stream the game right here
