With a win at the horn over Duke earlier this week, Syracuse, once pegged as dead in the NCAA Tournament race, has resurrected its chances at making a run into the Big Dance. As Matt Norlander wrote, the Orange aren’t dancing yet -- but they are darn close to getting into the field.

That’s why Sunday’s matchup with Louisville is so critical to Syracuse’s hopes of going dancing.

Here is television and streaming information for the game, along with a scouting report and a pick against the spread.

Scouting report

Syracuse senior guard John Gillon lit up the Blue Devils to the tune of 26 points earlier this week, including an insane off-the-glass winner. No, he’s not the team’s leading scorer. He’s third at 11.1 points per game, but it’s clear he has been a key to the Cuse’s late-season resurgence of -- so the Orange will likely go to him early and often against Louisville’s back court.

Louisville’s sharpshooting sophomore Donovan Mitchell is leading the team in scoring, second in assists, and has averaged 17.4 points over his past five games. The 6-foot-3 Mitchell is paired with Quentin Snider to form a stiff duo for the fifth-most efficient defense in points surrendered per 100 possessions. Louisville’s defense has played an integral role in the Cardinals winning six of their past eight games.

Matchups to watch

In a 76-72 overtime win over Syracuse in the first round between these two, Louisville dared the Cuse to shoot from the perimeter -- forcing the Orange to finish just 8 of 34 from the 3-point line. Because of Louisville’s sheer length down low, look for it to force the offensive action outside once again. Syracuse will get another chance to prove itself from the 3-point line, in the Carrier Dome where it has had a much higher level of success. I think this one will come down to the wire.

Odds and pick

KenPom odds: Louisville -13

Pick: Syracuse +13

I certainly wouldn’t pick against a Hall of Fame coach in Jim Boeheim who has his back against the wall. The Orange need another W to feel good rolling into Selection Sunday, and I think they get it with a 72-69 upset of the Cards.
