TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Jose Perez scored 20 points and Frankie Collins made a layup with 2.1 seconds to go as Arizona State used a 14-2 run in the last two minutes of the game to stun UMass Lowell 71-69 on Thursday night.

Yuri Covington calmly made a pair of free throws with 9.2 seconds left for UMass Lowell, but Collins took the inbounds pass and went coast-to-coast for the winner.

Ayinde Hikim's jumper with 1:59 to go made it 67-57, but the Sun Devils turned up the heat and forced four turnovers and a miss.

Collins tied it with a layup left, capping 10 points in 44 seconds. UMass Lowell ran the clock before Collins stole the ball, his school-record tying eighth. That led to a go-ahead floater in the lane by Perez with 13 seconds left for ASU's first lead since 3-0.

Jamiya Neal had 12 points for the Sun Devils (2-1), with a 3-pointer to start the comeback and a three-point play to make it 67-65. Collins had 11 and Alonzao Gaffney and Kamari Lands 10 each.

Abdoul Karim Coulibaly scored 19 points, Ayinde Hikim added 17 and Covington 14 for the River Hawks (3-1) who were off to their best start at the Division-I level and coming off a 74-71 win at Georgia Tech on Tuesday.

The Sun Devils forced 21 turnovers, with 13 steals, and turned those into 27 points.

The River Hawks by as many as 12 in the first half and when Cam Morris III had a put-back at the buzzer it was 31-22 at the break.

UMass Lowell plays at Saint Peter's on Monday, their fourth game of six-straight on the road.

The Sun Devils face BYU at the Vegas Showdown on Thanksgiving Day.
