Sanderson scored a goal and delivered an assist in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Red Wings. After lighting the lamp himself midway through the first period, Sanderson initiated the wild scramble in the Detroit end that led to Tim Stutzle's OT winner with just two seconds left on the clock. Sanderson continues to look far more seasoned than a 21-year-old blueliner in his second NHL season should, and through 14 games the fifth overall pick in the 2020 Draft has racked up four goals and 12 points with 26 shots on net, 23 blocked shots, seven hits, four PIM and an even plus-minus rating.... Senators' Jake Sanderson: Stays hot in Saturday's loss
Sanderson scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings. The 21-year-old blueliner has come flying out of the gate in his second NHL season, piling up three goals and six points in five games. Sanderson's hot start has allowed him to rocket past Thomas Chabot and Jakob Chychrun to take over point duties on the Senators' first power-play unit. The eight-year, $64 million contract extension Sanderson signed in September is proof of the amount of faith the team has in him, and he has rewarded the Senators in return.... See More ... Senators' Jake Sanderson: Collects two points Wednesday
Sanderson scored a goal, recorded an assist, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Capitals. Sanderson got on the scoresheet for the third straight game, and this was his second multi-point effort of the campaign. He's at two goals, three assists, five shots on net, five blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through four contests. His defense partner, Artem Zub, left the game with an upper-body injury. Sanderson has been working on the second pairing, and he was elevated to the first power-play unit over Thomas Chabot for Wednesday's game.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Jake Sanderson: Two points including GWG
Sanderson scored the game-winning goal and added an assist, both on the power play, in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Flyers. It was a big game for Ottawa defensemen, as Jakob Chychrun scored the first two goals of the afternoon on the way to a three-point performance, but Sanderson potted the eventual GWG on an absolute rocket from just inside the blue line late in the second period. The 21-year-old is coming off a strong rookie season that earned him an eight-year contract extension just before the season started, and while he's splitting power-play time with Chychrun and Thomas Chabot, Sanderson is already showing that he can still make an impact even if he isn't the team's No. 1 option on the back end.... Senators' Jake Sanderson: Commits long term in Ottawa
Sanderson signed an eight-year, $64.4 million contract extension with the Senators on Wednesday. Sanderson is entering the final year of his entry-level contract, so his new deal won't kick in until 2024-25. It didn't take long for the Senators to sign the Montana native to a long-term deal after he posted four goals and 28 assists over 77 contests as a rookie last season. Sanderson is now officially a core part of the Senators' defense, alongside Thomas Chabot and Artem Zub. Jakob Chychrun could also be in that mix if he stays with the team beyond the expiration of his current contract at the end of next season. Expect Sanderson to see top-four minutes and some power-play time in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Jake Sanderson: Crafts two assists in big win
Sanderson supplied a pair of assists to complement a plus-4 rating in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Lightning. This was the best game of Sanderson's rookie campaign. The fifth overall pick from 2020 -- who also had four shots on goal -- upped his total to 27 assists and 31 points through 75 contests. His latest pair of apples took place at even strength, but Sanderson has 16 total points on the power play as a sign that he's going to rapidly mature into an elite blue-line talent.... See More ... Senators' Jake Sanderson: Two-assist night
Sanderson had a pair of assists Thursday as Ottawa dropped a 5-4 decision to Colorado. Sanderson has four goals and 24 assists in 63 games in 2022-23. He has picked up his pace of late with six assists in his last seven games. Sanderson is only 20 years of age and should be considered in the late middle rounds of redraft leagues next season.... Senators' Jake Sanderson: Logs helper Thursday
Sanderson produced an assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Kraken. Claude Giroux stole the puck in the corner and fed Sanderson, who then passed to Alex DeBrincat on the game-winning goal. Over his last three games, Sanderson has three helpers -- his ice time has dipped a bit, but he's not being too negatively impacted by the addition of Jakob Chychrun. Sanderson is up to 25 points, 93 shots on net, 100 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating through 59 outings overall.... See More ... See Less -

Sanderson (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, per the NHL media site. Sanderson should be good to go Friday against Carolina following a five-game absence. Sanderson logged 19:29 of ice time Saturday and scored his third goal of the season in the opening minute of the second period.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Jake Sanderson: Sets up goal in big win
Sanderson delivered a power-play assist to complement a plus-3 rating in Friday's 6-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Ottawa used its fifth overall pick on Sanderson in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and we're already seeing nice returns from the UND product. Sanderson has two goals and 17 assists -- including a goal and nine helpers on the man advantage -- through 48 games. While he should already be on dynasty rosters, more experience figures to put Sanderson squarely on the map for redraft leagues starting in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Senators' Jake Sanderson: Bags two apples in win
Sanderson dished out two assists -- one on the power play -- in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Islanders. Sanderson played a role in both of Ottawa's goals. The rookie blueliner has sandwiched a five-game point drought between two-assist efforts, but you have to go back to Nov. 16 to find Sanderson's previous multi-point performance before this pair in January....
