  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to face Red Wings

Andersen is set to play at home against Detroit on Thursday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. Andersen is on a six-game winning streak in which he's allowed just eight goals on 163 shots (.951 save percentage). He's 10-1-0 with a 2.05 GAA and a .925 save percentage in 12 outings overall. Detroit has won only three of its last 13 contests, so this is a favorable matchup for Andersen.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Wins sixth straight

Andersen stopped 32 of 33 shots in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Maple Leafs. A Nick Robertson tally midway through the third period was the only blemish on Andersen's ledger as the 34-year-old netminder picked up his sixth straight win since returning from a fourth-month stint on IR. Andersen's yet to allow more than two goals in a game during that span. Overall, he's 10-1-0 with a .924 save percentage and 2.05 GAA. Pyotr Kochetkov will likely start Tuesday's game in Pittsburgh, lining Andersen up for a home matchup with the Red Wings on Thursday.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting against Leafs

Andersen will patrol the home crease Sunday against Toronto, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site. Andersen has stopped 123 of 130 shots for a .946 save percentage during his five-game winning streak. In 11 appearances this season, he has supplied a 9-1-0 record with a 2.15 GAA and a .919 save percentage. The Maple Leafs rank second in the league with 3.65 goals per contest this season.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Hot streak continues

Andersen made 30 saves in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers. The 34-year-old netminder has been spectacular since returning from a four-month absence due to a blood clotting issue. Andersen has won five straight starts in March, not allowing more than two goals in any of them en route to a 1.40 GAA and .946 save percentage. With Pyotr Kochetkov also playing well, the Hurricanes aren't likely to disrupt the timeshare between the duo as they try to chase down the Bruins, Rangers and Panthers for the best record in the Eastern Conference.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting Thursday

Andersen will be in the home crease versus Philadelphia on Thursday. Andersen has won four straight games since returning to action Mar. 7 after missing 50 games with a blood clotting issue. Andersen is 8-1-0 with a 2.17 GAA and a .917 save percentage this season. The Flyers are averaging 2.93 goals, 22nd in the NHL.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Sharp in fourth straight win

Andersen stopped 30 of 32 shots in a 7-2 win over Ottawa on Sunday. Andersen didn't have to do much behind Carolina's seven-goal outburst but was solid again Sunday. He has won each of his four starts since returning from IR while allowing two goals or fewer in each outing. Overall, the 34-year-old netminder is 8-1-0 this season with a .917 save percentage and 2.17 GAA. While he continues to split time with Pyotr Kochetkov in net, Andersen could be playing his way back into a clear starting job down the stretch.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Posts first shutout of season

Andersen made 21 saves in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Panthers. In his third start since returning from a blood clotting issue that cost him four months of the season, Andersen delivered his first shutout in just over a calendar year. The 34-year-old netminder has won three straight outings since rejoining the Hurricanes while posting a .955 save percentage, but with Pyotr Kochetkov also playing extremely well (1.90 GAA and .932 save percentage since the All-Star break), the duo will likely remain in a timeshare.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Guarding home goal

Andersen is expected to start at home against Florida on Thursday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Andersen has a 6-1-0 record, 2.49 GAA and .904 save percentage in eight contests this season. He's won his last two starts while saving 42 of 45 shots (.933 save percentage). The Panthers have a 24-8-2 road record, so they're likely to be a significant challenge for Andersen.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Wins second straight

Andersen stopped 17 of 19 shots in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Flames. Andersen wasn't very busy Sunday as he cruised to the win behind the Hurricanes' offensive outburst. The 34-year-old Andersen hasn't shown many signs of rust in two starts since returning from a four-month stint on IR -- he's won both games, allowing just three goals on 44 shots. Overall, Andersen is 6-1-0 with a .903 save percentage and 2.49 GAA on the season. While he figures to split time with Pyotr Kochetkov down the stretch, Andersen should be a strong fantasy option behind a Carolina team that's 5-1-0 in its last six games.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Defending crease Sunday

Andersen will protect the home net Sunday against Calgary, according to Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal. Andersen made 24 saves in a 4-1 win over Montreal on Thursday in his return to the lineup from a blood clotting issue. In seven appearances this season, he has a 5-1-0 record with a 2.57 GAA and a .904 save percentage. The Flames sit 16th in the league this campaign with 3.14 goals per contest.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Nabs win in return

Andersen stopped 24 shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Canadiens. Making his first NHL appearance since Nov. 2, Andersen gave up a somewhat soft goal on a long-range shot by Joshua Roy early in the first period, but the veteran netminder buckled down after that. Coming off a four-month absence due to a blood clotting issue, it's not clear how heavy a workload Andersen will get right away, especially with Pyotr Kochetkov having posted a 1.99 GAA and .931 save percentage since the beginning of February.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Defending cage at home

Andersen will be in goal at home against the Canadiens on Thursday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Andersen will be between the pipes for the first time since Nov. 2 versus the Rangers, a stretch of 50 games on long-term injured reserve due to a blood clotting issue. There will no doubt be some rust for the backstop to shake off but he should be in contention for regular starts down the stretch. He'll get a decent home matchup in his return, as the Canadiens are 12-12-7 on the road this year.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Activated off IR

Andersen (illness) has been activated off injured reserve ahead of Thursday's home game versus Montreal, per the NHL media site. The Hurricanes have yet to announce a starter, but Andersen could be between the pipes against the Canadiens. He hasn't played since Nov. 2 against the Rangers due to a blood clotting issue, but if he's fully healthy, Andersen could take over as Carolina's No. 1 netminder down the stretch. The 34-year-old vet went 4-1-0 while posting a 2.87 GAA and an .894 save percentage through six appearances before landing on IR.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Drawing close to return

Andersen (illness) might make his return next week, GM Don Waddell told Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer on Thursday. Andersen, who hasn't played since Nov. 2, has a 4-1-0 record, 2.87 GAA and .894 save percentage in six appearances this season. Once he's available, Andersen will likely reassert himself as Carolina's top goaltender. However, with Antti Raanta (lower body) and Pyotr Kochetkov also expected to compete for starts once all three netminders are healthy, Andersen might see less work than most other No. 1s in the league.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Increasing workload

Andersen (illness) was in the starter's crease Monday in order to take more shots but is still without a clear recovery timeline, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen continues to increase his work in the hope of getting back into the crease this season. With Antti Raanta (lower body) also unavailable, the team will turn to Spencer Martin against the Blackhawks on Monday. Once given the green light, Andersen should get the chance to reestablish himself as the No. 1 option in Carolina.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Ready for limited on-ice activities

Andersen, who hasn't played since Nov. 2 because of a blood clotting issue, has been cleared to begin limited on-ice activities, the team announced Wednesday. There is no timetable for Andersen's return, but Carolina plans to offer more updates as the goaltender makes further progress. He has a 4-1-0 record, 2.87 GAA and .894 save percentage in six contests this season. The Hurricanes have been leaning heavily on Antti Raanta recently, but the 34-year-old netminder has left plenty to be desired with his 3.04 GAA and .870 save percentage across 23 games in 2023-24. When Andersen is back, he will likely compete with Raanta for starts, though Pyotr Kochetkov, who was loaned to AHL Chicago on Sunday, could rejoin the team after the All-Star break and might also remain in the mix.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Will start skating soon

Andersen (illness) is still a month from returning to action but is expected to start skating soon. General manager Don Waddell told reporters Sunday, "Over the next week or 10 days, he'll start hitting the ice more," Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen shouldn't be expected back until mid-to-late January but the fact that he is ready to start skating is certainly a step in the right direction. Until the veteran backstop is cleared to play, the Hurricanes figure to continue utilizing Pyotr Kochetkov as the primary option between the pipes. Having said that, Carolina added Aaron Dell on a professional tryout after having placed Antti Raanta on waivers over the weekend.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Out indefinitely

Carolina announced Monday that Andersen will be out of action indefinitely after it was discovered that he has a blood clotting issue. The Hurricanes added that they are "confident that Freddie will be able to make a full recovery." Andersen, who was moved to injured reserve Monday, has posted a 4-1-0 record with a 2.87 GAA and an .894 save percentage in six appearances this season. At this time, Antti Raanta is projected to be the No. 1 netminder for the Hurricanes. Jaroslav Halak, who is with Carolina on a tryout basis, may get a chance to fill in as well during Andersen's absence. Pyotr Kochetkov could also be in the mix for playing time between the pipes.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: First loss since return from injury

Andersen made 24 saves in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers on Thursday. Chris Kreider beat Andersen on the power play in the first frame. And Will Cuylle scored the eventual winner with 9:39 remaining in the game. It was Andersen's first loss since his return from injury, and he's 4-1-0 on the season. His 2.87 GAA and .894 save percentage look dull from the outside, but the the Hurricanes continue to sharpen their game. As long as he stays healthy, Andersen will be a solid fantasy play.
