Hardy reportedly got into an altercation at Cowboys practice. (USATSI)

The Greg Hardy era hasn't started swimmingly for the Dallas Cowboys. Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones withstood the storm of media questions about signing Hardy during the owners' meetings but the 10-game suspension he was nailed with earlier in the week had to catch even Dallas by surprise.

Hardy could still appeal, of course. But in the meantime: HE'S FIGHTING TEAMMATES. Reportedly. On the field.

According to Mike Garafalo of FOX Sports, Hardy and Davon Coleman got into what Coleman's agent has confirmed was a "verbal altercation."

Garafolo reports Hardy questioned Coleman's "effort during conditioning drills."

Fighting is, you know, kind of a thing football players do. They are sent out on the field to attack one another and they fight. It's a very, very common thing in NFL practices. I expect at least 1 in every 5 comment to be some variation of "how is this news?" That's fine.

But perhaps there was something more?

But Hardy is a guy who suspended 10 games for extremely violent behavior. His situation in Dallas -- and the NFL -- is tenuous.

Him calling out his new teammates and having any sort of altercation isn't a good look.
