Roddy scored two points (1-1 FG) in five minutes during Monday's 117-111 victory over Cleveland. Roddy has logged double-digit minutes only once across eight appearances since being dealt to Phoenix at the trade deadline. The second-year wing failed to make an impact while Eric Gordon (knee) and Josh Okogie (abdomen) are unavailable bodes extremely poorly for his rest-of-season outlook. Memphis moving on from Roddy less than two full campaigns after drafting him in the first round symbolizes his struggle to carve out a niche in the league thus far.... See More ... See Less

Suns' David Roddy: Available against Warriors
Roddy (trade pending) will be available for Saturday's game against the Warriors. Royce O'Neale is also available to make his debut, and he's more likely to carve out a meaningful role in Phoenix. Roddy made 48 appearances for the Grizzlies this season, averaging 8.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 three-pointers. He shot 40.2 percent from the field and 30.1 percent from beyond the arc, however.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' David Roddy: Sent to Phoenix
Roddy was traded from the Grizzlies to the Suns on Thursday as part of a three-team trade that sent draft-pick compensation to Memphis and Royce O'Neale to Phoenix, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Roddy saw consistent playing time for the Grizzlies for most of the first half of the season, and he saw increased work in recent matchups since Memphis was dealing with multiple injuries. Over 48 appearances this year, he's averaged 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 23.2 minutes per game. He'll now move to a playoff contender that has also acquired O'Neale ahead of Thursday's deadline, but Roddy has proven to be capable of providing scoring and rebounding production off the bench when needed.... Grizzlies' David Roddy: Moves back to bench
Roddy isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Knicks. Roddy will be replaced by Santi Aldama in the starting lineup Tuesday. Roddy is averaging 8.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 23.4 minutes across his last five appearances coming off the bench.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Enters starting lineup
Roddy is starting Sunday's game versus Boston. Roddy, GG Jackson and Luke Kennard represent the only healthy Grizzlies on the wings Sunday. Roddy has averaged 10.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 12 games as a starter this season, but Sunday's adverse circumstances should yield additional usage.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Back to bench
Roddy will come off the bench for Thursday's game against the Cavaliers. This is an expected move with Vince Williams (knee) back in the lineup. Memphis is still very shorthanded at the moment, so Roddy figures to see plenty of minutes with the second unit due to his ability to play multiple positions.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Starting against Heat
Roddy will start Wednesday's game against Miami. Roddy will step into the first unit for the 10th time this season due to the Grizzlies' lengthy injury report. Filling out the remainder of the starting five are Jacob Gilyard, John Konchar, Vince Williams and Jaren Jackson, meaning Roddy should have an expanded offensive role. In his last seven appearances, Roddy is averaging 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Back to bench
Roddy will return to the bench for Monday's game against the Warriors, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports. With Jaren Jackson (knee) returning, Roddy will go back to playing with the second unit. Roddy was serviceable in his lone start due to Jackson's absence, putting up 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist over a season-high 35 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Joins first unit
Roddy will start Saturday's game against the Knicks. Jaren Jackson (knee) is out for the second leg of this back-to-back set, leaving the Grizzlies thin in the frontcourt. In addition to starting at the four, Roddy is expected to see a handful of minutes as the backup center, according to coach Taylor Jenkins.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Scores 15 off bench
Roddy finished with 15 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-8 FT) and two assists across 29 minutes during Thursday's 142-105 loss to the Nuggets. Roddy scored in double figures in just one of his 10 appearances before Thursday's matchup, but he saw an increased role off the bench during Thursday's blowout loss. Despite his uptick in playing time against the Nuggets, Roddy's role has decreased in recent games, and he doesn't hold much fantasy value.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Moves to bench
Roddy will move to a bench role for Friday's game against the Rockets, Jessica Benson of Bally Sports Southeast reports. Desmond Bane is returning from his illness Friday, but instead of Vince Williams, it will be Roddy who moves to the second unit. Roddy is coming off a dud versus Houston on Wednesday, as he went 3-for-14 en route to nine points in 32 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Inserted into starting lineup
Roddy is in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus Utah, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Roddy will replace Santi Aldama in the starting lineup Wednesday. Roddy tallied 16 points and three assists in 32 minutes during his only other starting appearance this season.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Fills stat sheet off bench Tuesday
Roddy produced 17 points (6-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals over 31 minutes during Tuesday's 134-107 loss to the Lakers. The nature of the game allowed the Grizzlies' reserves to play more than they usually do, and Roddy was one of the players that took advantage of the opportunity to deliver a strong fantasy line. However, this was just the third time he scored in double digits this season, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect too much from him going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Back to bench
Roddy will not start in Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers. Roddy was moved into the starting lineup for Memphis' previous matchup, in which he posted 16 points and three rebounds, but he will be moved back to the bench in favor of Xavier Tillman. It would not be surprising to see Memphis' starting lineup continue to change with their struggles to start the season.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Posts 16 points, but little else
Roddy registered 16 points (8-14 FG, 0-4 3Pt) and three rebounds across 32 minutes in Friday's 115-113 loss to the Trail Blazers. Roddy entered the starting five in place of Xavier Tillman, who moved to the bench while the Grizzlies favored more of a small-ball lineup featuring Jaren Jackson at center. As a result of the promotion to the top unit, Roddy was able to clear the 30-minute mark for the first time in 2023-24, and though he also posted a new season-high in scoring, his contributions were lacking in other areas. It's unclear if Roddy will stick in the starting five moving forward or if Friday's lineup configuration was a one-game experiment, but the second-year player is likely to face a threat for playing time sooner or later when Santi Aldama (ankle) is cleared to make his season debut.... Grizzlies' David Roddy: Option picked up
The Grizzlies exercised Roddy's third-year team option Monday. This transaction locks Roddy up with the Grizzlies through the 2024-25 season. With so many injuries in Memphis, Roddy could potentially have a much bigger role this season. As a rookie, Roddy compiled averages of 6.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 three-pointers in 18.0 minutes per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Gets starting nod
Roddy is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Hawks. Roddy is coming off a solid showing in the preseason opener against the Bucks, finishing with 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 108-102 win. Roddy should see decent minutes off the bench in 2023-24, but he will have an expanded role in this one since Memphis will sit most of its expected starters in this one.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Efficient off bench
Roddy recorded 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 108-102 preseason win over the Bucks. Roddy was Memphis' second-leading scorer off the bench behind Jake LaRavia (16 points) Tuesday. Roddy will likely be one of the Grizzlies' first options off the bench at the forward positions in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Scores 16 points off bench
Roddy amassed 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-6 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block over 27 minutes during Tuesday's 119-109 win over the Trail Blazers. Roddy was lights out from deep and notched his highest-scoring outing since March 13. Over his past 14 appearances (one start), the rookie first-round pick has averaged 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 20.1 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' David Roddy: Another strong performance
Roddy posted 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 26 minutes during Monday's 104-88 victory over Dallas. Don't look now, but Roddy has dropped double-digit scoring in two straight games, logging at least 23 minutes in both outings. Of course, the performances could also be nothing more than a mirage, brought about by favorable circumstances. Brandon Clarke's season-ending Achilles injury should keep Roddy in the Memphis rotation for the foreseeable future, but his minutes could drop off a bit once he's no longer hitting three-quarters of his shots from the field, as has been the case between the past two contests....
