  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Retreats to bench

Hyland will come off the bench during Sunday's game against the Hawks, Law Murray of The Athletic reports. Hyland got two spot starts with James Harden (shoulder) out of the lineup, but he will return to his usual bench spot Sunday. With Norman Powell (lower leg) out of the lineup, Hyland could still be in for ample playing time.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Struggles in spot start

Hyland accumulated five points (2-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt), two rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals across 24 minutes during Friday's 112-104 loss to the Pelicans. Hyland got the starting nod once again with James Harden ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Coming off a strong performance Thursday, Hyland failed to repeat his heroics, tallying just five points in 24 minutes. Harden's injury doesn't sound as though it is going to cause him to miss significant time, meaning Hyland's stretch of relevance could end just as quickly as it began.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Takes advantage of spot start

Hyland notched 17 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, 11 assists and four steals over 32 minutes during Thursday's 126-111 victory over the Bulls. Hyland was inserted into the starting lineup with James Harden (shoulder) sidelined. Hyland made the most of his opportunity as he recorded his first double-double of the season and the third of his career. His 11 assists Thursday tied a career high set in December of 2022, and his 17 points were his most since Nov. 10 against the Mavericks. Law Murray of The Athletic reported after Thursday's game that Harden is uncertain he'll play Friday against the Pelicans, and if that's the case, Hyland figures to reprise his starting role.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Starting for injured Harden

Hyland will get the start Thursday against the Bulls in place of the injured James Harden (shoulder), Law Murray of The Athletic reports. Hyland has been a consistent part of the rotation over the past seven games, and it appears coach Tyronn Lue has seen enough to give him a chance at starting in place of Harden. Hyland has gotten the nod in two prior games this season, totaling 21 points, eight assists, two steals and one rebound in 66 minutes. Per 36 minutes, he's averaging 16.3 points, 5.4 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals. The Clippers will still have Kawhi Leonard (back) after an injury scare, however, so it won't be just up to Hyland and Paul George to generate first-unit offense.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Plays well off bench

Hyland ended with eight points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes during Tuesday's 118-100 loss to Minnesota. Kawhi Leonard left this game early after 12 minutes with a back issue and didn't return, and Hyland made the most of his limited minutes. He had no rhythm at the beginning of March, but he's played well in three straight games with averages of 10.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.3 three-pointers.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Enters rotation for Clippers

Hyland notched zero points (0-3 FG) and two assists in 14 minutes during Sunday's 89-88 victory over Minnesota. After not playing at all in February, Hyland has averaged 15.0 minutes in his last two appearances. He's getting some opportunity with Russell Westbrook (wrist) out indefinitely, but there's some obvious rust to shake off with a combined two points in those games on 1-for-10 shooting.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Available to play

Hyland will be available for Thursday's game against the Thunder, Joey Linn of SI.com reports. While Hyland will be available for Thursday's game, that doesn't mean he'll play. The third-year guard has appeared in only 19 games for the Clippers this season, posting meager averages of 6.2 points, 1.7 assists and not much else on 36.7 percent shooting from the floor. He was sent home ahead of the Clippers' final game before the All-Star break to reset his mindset after frustrations about playing time.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Won't play Wednesday

Hyland is not with the team and is listed as out for Wednesday's game versus the Warriors. Hyland's absence won't impact the Clippers' rotation, as he hasn't played since Jan. 31 despite being available. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Clippers opted to send Hyland and P.J. Tucker home for the final game before All-Star Weekend to reset their mindsets following months of frustration due to lack of playing time. Both players are expected to return to the team after the break, so Hyland's next chance to suit up will come Feb. 22 against the Thunder.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Rare appearance in win

Hyland totaled two points (1-8 FG, 0-6 3Pt), one rebound, four assists and two steals across 10 minutes during Saturday's 115-96 win over the Celtics. Hyland played at least 10 minutes for just the second time in over two months, taking advantage of the blowout win. After an encouraging start to the season, Hyland has fallen out of the rotation, spending far more time on the bench than he does on the court. From a fantasy perspective, there is nothing to see or do here.

Hyland (knee) is available for Wednesday's game against Dallas, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports. • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Iffy against Dallas

Hyland (knee) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Mavericks, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports. Hyland is currently dealing with right knee chondromalacia and could miss his third straight game due to his knee issues. However, his potential absence shouldn't affect the Clippers' rotation.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Questionable to play Monday

Hyland (knee) is considered questionable to play Monday against Indiana, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports. Hyland is amid a two-game absence due to right knee soreness, following a nine-minute cameo on Dec. 12 after a three-game absence due to shoulder issues. He's also logged a handful of DNP-CDs this season, so it's difficult to determine exactly how banged up Hyland is. Amir Coffey has seen a nightly role across the Clippers' past three games, which Hyland could usurp if he's cleared to play Monday.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Out against Knicks

Hyland will not play against the Knicks on Saturday due to right knee soreness. Hyland has played a total of nine minutes in December, so his absence won't impact the Clippers' rotation. His next chance to suit up will come Monday in Indiana.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Good to go Tuesday

Hyland (shoulder) will be available for Tuesday's game against the Kings. Hyland hasn't been in the rotation for the Clippers, so his availability doesn't have many fantasy implications.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Questionable for Tuesday

Hyland (shoulder) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Kings, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports. Hyland missed Monday's game against the Trail Blazers due to a right shoulder strain and is in danger of missing a second consecutive contest Tuesday. However, he had fallen out of the Clippers' regular rotation recently, so his potential absence shouldn't have any impact on fantasy.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Healthy DNP in last two games

Hyland did not see the floor in Tuesday's game against the Nuggets. Hyland is healthy, but he hasn't seen the floor in two straight games for the Clippers. Coach Ty Lue said Tuesday night that Hyland will continue to be out of the rotation for the foreseeable future while he explores different lineups.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Back to bench

Hyland won't start Monday's game against the Knicks, Chris Mannix of SI.com reports. As expected, Hyland will move back to the bench with James Harden cleared to make his Clippers debut. Harden will have a minutes restriction, so Hyland should still see some minutes as the top guard off the bench. Across three appearances as a reserve this season, Hyland has averaged 15.7 points in 21.7 minutes per game.

  • Clippers' Bones Hyland: Moves into starting lineup

Hyland will start Tuesday's game against the Magic, Law Murray of The Athletic reports. The Clippers are preparing for the arrival of James Harden, so this is likely a temporary move for Hyland. The young guard has played very well to begin the season, averaging 15.7 points, 1.7 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 3.0 three-pointers.

The Clippers exercised Hyland's fourth-year team option Monday, Law Murray of The Athletic reports. Hyland's contract is squared away for the next two seasons following Monday's transaction. He's set to earn $4.16 million next season and is already off to a solid start to the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 15.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists through three contests.

Hyland trailed only Kawhi Leonard in shot attempts, joining a well-balanced Clippers' attack. Averaging 21.7 minutes per game, Hyland has been letting it fly from three, connecting on 42.9 percent of 7.0 threes per game through Los Angeles' first three contests.
