Toronto recalled Freeman-Liberty from the G League's Raptors 905 on Tuesday.
Freeman-Liberty was assigned Tuesday morning and played 25 minutes during the 905's 134-106 loss to the Westchester Knicks. He totaled 29 points (10-13 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds and four assists during the contest. Freeman-Liberty will be available for Wednesday's NBA matchup against Sacramento. However, it's unclear if he'll be part of the rotation after playing heavy minutes in the G League on Tuesday, though Immanuel Quickley's (personal) absence should open up some playing time for several reserve options.
Freeman-Liberty finished Monday's 125-119 loss to Denver with zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and one block in 12 minutes.
As a score-first guard, Freeman-Liberty failed to contribute much Monday but entered the contest logging at least 18 minutes in three consecutive games, signifying a relevant rotation role for the 24-year-old, especially if Immanuel Quickley (hip) and Gary Trent (groin) remain out. However, Freeman-Liberty is unlikely to build fantasy streaming appeal even if his role incrementally grows.
The Raptors converted Freeman-Liberty's two-way deal into a multi-year, standard NBA contract Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Freeman-Liberty has spent most of the 2023-24 season in the G League, where he's averaged 23.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.3 three-pointers and 1.5 steals in 35.2 minutes per game over 25 appearances for the Raptors 905. However, Freeman-Liberty will now join the NBA club for the rest of the campaign, despite having played only four total minutes through his first two appearances with the Raptors.
